South Florida gets as much rain as we get here in LA... drove thru one of the worst rainstorms between Boca and Miami a couple of yrs. ago....

Yeah, sometimes the rain here is rediculous. Growing up in Maryland we would get a good number of storms and Nor'easters and hurricane/tropical storm remenants with some flooding, but after living through the drought in California for 3 years before moving here the amount of rain was a shock to the system.

On Friday I was looking at a map of Orlando, Florida regarding a business trip I need to take. There was almost more open water than land. :jump:
Its raining here this weekend in So Cal. The first rain we've had in a month. And this is the middle of our short rainy season. This year is better than the last 3 or 4 years of drought.

Thanks too for the mention! That's the great part that works about this forum. That is that as people write things up others can learn and even build on it and post their own ideas to add.
I used the tubing provided by the ARB kit just at about 6" at the very end to insert it into their breather manifold under the hood. Up here in MD I felt that the cold winters and humid summers would eventually crack the ARB tubing so I used the 1/2" fuel line hose for the long runs underneath the truck.
Congratulations on the new 4Runner! Now go get some scratches and mud underneath! your rig looks too clean down there! lol!

you can pull it out any time: just push in the collet and pull out the tubing. it's a John Guest fitting.
Great/weird timing. I just ordered the ARB breather kit this morning and was hoping to find a thread here for this kit. Great job! Question though, is there enough hose for two runs into the engine bay? I have a TE so there's a breather on the locker. Do I need to buy extra hose, or is it possible to T into the same line going forward to the ARB breather? I know the ARB breather has additional ports to use but if I can get away with running just one hose, I'd rather go that route I'm thinking.

there's enough tubing to run two separate lines to the engine bay (routing it along the driver side frame rail, anyway). some folks do use a t-connector to tie the e-locker into the same line, as you described.

I can't think of a way to "T" the two together with what is only in the kit. I think you should have enough hose to run both but I measure the total amount of hose (I'm pretty sure it's 40') would dry-run the hose and see how much extra you have just to be sure. I can try and measure how much hose I have remaining in the morning but I also left about an extra foot of slack in the engine bay as a just in case. Since the two differentials are near one another you could essentially just run the two lines together once you get over the rear axle and up to the fuel/electrical lines. That would probably be the way I would do it if I had a rear locker.
Edit: Only 8m or ~ 26' of tubing come in the box.

I really like that ARB kit, and in hind sight it would have been easier. But you live, and learn. Added benefit was that because mine took longer, I was able to squeeze a few more brews in there :dancin:

Even at $1/foot it's worth it for the extra heavy duty tube. I measured this morning and had 11' of tubing left. It only came with 8m or 26'. Not enough to run two breathers front to back, at least not the routing I took with the slack I left. You could probably make it work but it would be tight.

Yes, definitely for one breather, stretching it with two. 8 meters or 26' come in the box, I had 11' left over and that was using a generous amount of tubing for suspension travel and about an extra 1' in the engine bay in case I need to extend the line in the future.

Gonna tackle this within the next couple of weeks myself. I haven't had hands on the ARB kit, but for those that have, realistically is it worth it to buy both the kit and extra heavier-duty tubing / hose? I'm all about doing this the right / most durable way, I'm just thinking about the fact that with heavier duty hose there would be at least one more zip tie or hose clamp connection to possibly come loose. Thoughts?

The hose seems pretty durable. It's thick walled but not as plyable as some of the rubber fuel hose. It's made by ARB, which a reputable off road/overland company, so I don't know why they would put their name on it if it wouldn't hold up. That was my reasoning for the kit at least.
