Rear gate interior panel / replacement.

Hey all,

Has anyone replaced one of these and if so what was the level of effort in getting this panel off? I picked up my sliders yesterday and did not realize they had slid back against the panel and scratched it all to hell. OCD me cannot have this so I have a replacement panel and clips on order. I searched but could not find anything pertaining to removing this. I also ordered new clips just to be safe but am I safe in assuming that many if not all of the clips will be reusable?

Also what tool do I need to remove this? Just a simple plastic molding and trim removal tool?

I've had mine off a few times when doing the backup camera. you just pull straight out until all the clips are loose and then pick up to get it out of the window channel. NOTE: remove lights first to keep from having to mess with the wires.

plastic trim removal tool will do the trick. IIRC there is a little starter slot on the passenger side of the rear hatch when it is open.

start there, get it pulled loose, then pull down the side furthest from the interior of the truck (technically the bottom of the panel when the liftgate is closed), then UNDO THE LIGHT WIRES before you keep pulling. Once the light wires are undone make sure all the clips are undone and then the only thing holding it should be a channel where it slots into the rear window lip.

i just did this to replace the melted rear hatch button so its fresh lol

What hert4r said! You can also pull the light housings out and disco before you pull the liner loose at all, you just have to use a trim tool on the RIGHT sides of the housings(if your facing away from the rear), pop down a bit, then insert tool deeper to depress the holding clip.
(Also very fresh from doing the silly puddy switch cover replacemt)
