Rear Hatch Wire Boot Leaking

Looking for a little help with the rear hatch wire boot. Mine appears to be leaking and I'll give a little details below. Hoping for any help for those of you who have had this issue.

October 2019 I installed chase lights on the 4Runner. I ran them through the grommet plug on the left side of the hatch, then popped off the wire boot (at least that's what I'm calling it, maybe it's referred to as something else), fed the wire through until I got it into the hatch.

No issues with leaking or anything else. I don't remove removing any sort of sealant etc.

Fast forward to December of 2021, I wash the vehicle, open the hatch, and I see a decent wet spot on the left side of the cargo floor. Looks like it's coming out of the window so I naturally think roof rack. Pop the headliner to see what the deal is, and there's a big spot on the headliner (only visible with it popped) directly under the wire boot.

I dry everything up, then pour the water over the roof rack bolts. No leaks. I then do the same thing to the wire boot, immediately water comes through. It's not a flood, but it's definitely a decent leak.

I cleaned up everything two days ago, put down a layer of silicone, let it cure for two days. Poured water, again water comes through. It might have been a tiny bit less, but none the less it came through.

Nothing seems to be wrong with the boot itself as far as cracks or cuts, but it does feel a bit more flimsy than my buddies. He says his is super tight, where mine I can pretty much pop off and on without too much trouble.

Anyone run into this issue? Any help is appreciated.

Cliff Notes: Ran chase light wiring through rear hatch wire boot in 2019. December 2021 a leak begins. Siliconed around the boot and body of the vehicle and let cure two days, the leak still appears.

I don’t think you have that boot installed properly against the metal. I ran some wires through the boot a few years ago and remember having to massage it to fit back over a plastic sleeve that fit into a notch in the rubber boot. Hard to explain but it’s kind of a press fit. Here’s what mine looks like.

Looking for this part #

Does anyone know this hatch wire boot part number or what its even called?
Mine is leaking too on the bottom like yours due to the retaining clip crumbling to pieces allowing the boot to just float outside of the seal.
Mine is electrical taped for now but water is still getting in.
Anyone that can help with a part number or official name would be great!
