Rear Heater Lines

Well this was one of the easiest and quickest fixes ever for me. One question- on the bypass loop that hose is just long enough to make it like you said, but if you look in the pic I took it is kinked pretty bad and probably not allowing full flow, maybe none at all. Does this matter? Seems to me it wouldn't since it's just closing off a loop I no longer need anyway.

Look at what that loop is now. Nothing is there as those are only used for the rear heater and dosent effect any flow to main heater core. Actually. You have slightly a little more coolant flowing through you heater core. Nothing major just slighty. The kink just shuts flow off between those 2 points. I ran that way for 2 years without any adverse side effects.

There are many stock 4Runners out there without a rear heater from the factory - no flow is needed there.

Never had a problem with my rear heat, it worked last week now today it’s coming out ice cold all of a sudden. Does anyone have any photos on what to check?

1) Check antifreeze level

2.) Verify no leaks in the heater lines.

3.) Its under the passenger seat and the heat controls valves are on that core itself under the seat.

So that is where you would be looking if 1 and 2 are good. Maybe you luck out and the hot cold adjustment cable came loose of something..

Amount of heat is controlled by a blend door, so you should hear/feel it flapping if you move the lever back and forth.

Thanks for the replies. It was low coolant! The front heat was still good, but rear was cold and after adding coolant, it fixed it. Over time this stuff can evaporate. Added some Peak pink for Asian vehicles.

(now just need to fix the hesitation issue under heavy throttle) Haven't cleaned the maf in a long time
