Rear speaker fitment question

Like Mike said 6.5 speaker will fit with trimming. I have 6.5 in the back with spacers to allow for full row down of the window and trimmed my door panel a bit. Just make sure that before you reinstall door panel you roll down the window to make sure you have enough clearance between magnet and window to asure full row down. If not run down to your audio store and tell them you need some 6.5 inch speaker spacer. I'm running Alpine type s in the rear so if that is what you are planning to get then you will definitely need spacers.
 
I am just putting some inexpensive Pioneers. Nothing too special, just want to replace crappy speakers.
 
IME, I would not even waste time with this. I have replaced the rear door speakers twice on two different 4runners. The first was just a simple speaker replacement and the second I actually took the time to run 16 ga speaker wire and amp the rear speakers. Both times were a negligible difference over stock, to me. It was certainly not worth the time, money or effort to do. The only reason I could see ever replacing these again are if somehow the rears are busted and making noises other than music.
 
One of the best things I ever did was replace my factory speakers and sound deadened the doors at the same time. Pulling off the doors will take you about 5-10 minutes the first, and less than 5 minutes after that. If you get 5-1/4" speakers for the rear. You can mount them on top of the adapters that are already in place. Just pull the old speakers, cut the plug off the factory speaker, put it on your new speaker, and put the door back together. New speakers with a new head unit are going to sound a lot better then the factory ones.
 
It's all done. I ended up with the wrong speakers from Walmart's website. I thought Iwas getting 5-1/4sfor the rear. Instead they sent me 2 PDA of 6-1/2s. They fit and sound a lot better. Any suggestions for a good budget 4 channel amp? Thanks again for all your inputs
