rear speakers stop working after radio swap, please help

95 T4R 3.0 5 speed 4x4

I bought this truck in December. the PO had a junky amp, big wires and stuff running everywhere. It worked fine except the front speakers would go in and out. Rear speakers worked fine. So this morning I decided to put my AM/FM USB unit in and take out all the amp and junk. He had wired the rear speakers through the factory speaker wires, the front had speakers added to the door. I Googled and found the factory wire schematic and wired up the new head unit the. Now, it works fine but the rear speakers don't work. The rear speakers worked fine before and i know i ran the correct wires.

Could the rear channel in the head unit be messed up? It has been in my junked out XJ for a year. It works fine otherwise. The front speakers work.

I dread having to remove the rear paneling to get to the speakers. That looks like ALOT of work.

Hello fellow Texan!

I just ran into basically the same issue last night. The rear speakers have and individual amp and have to be powered. On my new stereo head unit harness, there is a blue w/white wire thats used for powering accessory items. This wire can be used to power the factory toyota rear speaker amps.

If you look at the connectors on the vehicle side (the blue plugs), the larger of the two plugs.

Pin out:
1-2-*-*-3-4
5-6-7-X-9-Y

The X pinout wire (I thinks its purple w/blue on the factory harness side), needs to be connected to the blue w/white wire coming from the stereo connector. Hope this helps, let us know how it goes.
