Rear Turn LED bulbs issues

If you're really looking for more light in reverse, why not start by replacing the reverse bulbs with LEDs? That's surely simpler than modifying something which may not need a mod. It's also half the price of the tail-as-turn kit even before you start adding DiodeDynamics ridiculously overpriced LEDs.
Also consider the reverse light reflector is designed to project light behind you where you need it. The rear turn signal is an indicator light, and has no such reflector and will throw lots of light up, out to the side, and behind you. Lots of light wasted in a place where you don't need it.

My suggestion is JDM ASTAR 912/921 800 lumen LEDs
Here's what they look like in a well lit parking lot, they provide more than enough light to see through the rear camera.

You can honestly spend as much as you want on bulbs, luckily these are easy to swap out if they fail... I went with these, they were a little pricey but haven't failed me.

Some of us have learned a lesson from cheap chinese knock off LEDs and would rather spend a little more money supporting US products that do things right the first time.

Lastly... the install isn't difficult at all and like I said its pretty much plug and play
