Rear Window Issues

To start off with I'll mention that I have searched and none of the fixes people mentioned have helped. My key does not actuate the window in either direction.

My issues are the window is stuck in the up position.

I've checked:

1) The switch. It appears to work.
2) The wire loom on the hatch. One wire was cracked, but not grounding. I have since insulated it.
3) All plugs in the hatch are clean and connected.
4) Disconnecting battery for 15-20 minutes.

The issues is whenever I plug in the control box (blue), it actuates the UP relay and the motor gets power but doesn't move. None of the controls overrides it. It supplies a constant 12v power to the window motor.

It almost sounds like it's shorted out somewhere causing this to happen, but the short is continuous and not intermittent.

I've sinced unplugged the blue end plug to prevent the motor from having constant power applied to it, but now that it's summer I'd love the rear window to work! My dog is also missing it.

Anybody have ideas as to why this might be happening? I could try applying power from a battery to the motor to see if it still goes up or down, but something is causing the control box to feel the need to "go up". Maybe overriding the motor and cycling the window via battery might fix a reset button. People who have stuck windows generally need to do this to "reset" the blue box.

Rear wiper does not work. Water sprayer does. Not sure about the defrost. I don't believe it does.

I'll double check the switch again. Anybody know for sure what the prong are on the back? I was just looking for continuity between two terminals in either up or down locations.

Thanks!

My relay went out on my truck, or I should say it was out when I got mine. If you can find one at a junk yard I would start there. I plugged in a new one and worked perfect after that. I had no control of the window when it was out. You might be able to find the orange box some place but it is easier to just open it and swap the circuit boards out.

i got a bunch of left over parts from a 98 hatch if you need a part, let me know and ill go check to see if i have it.
only thing i parted out from it was the bottom latch but electronics and all are still there and in working order when it was removed.

let me know!
a picture may help me to get you the right part as well

you have tried of course the switch inside the vehicle as well as the key switch on the hatch?

The fact that the window is up yet your defrost and wiper do not work is why I am asking.

Make sure the window is truly all the way up with both switches...

Thanks for the FSM pictures! I will run through the electronics!!

Yes, the switch at the front and the key at the rear door does nothing. As soon as I plug in the electronics the relay clicks and power goes to the motor. Window doesn't budge even with attemps to help by hand. With the FSM, I'll check all connections, switches, and limit switch.

If all else fails I may contact the above user for the control box. It seems some years had orange and some had blue control boxes though. . . Mine is blue (98)

Checked the switch (front only), limit switch, and motor operation.

All three work. Will try to check relay and rear key switch (although till this stopped working, I have never used it in a year)

Probably be the relay unit, but I find that odd.
