Definitely sub'd. Never understood why they made the ability to roll down, but not up. Maybe because they'd have to wire some sort of sensor as to not crush anything?

It's a safety feature so you dont get your kids hands & heads caught in there. Same reason as no auto-up rear door windows.

I have 3 dogs so I doubt I would do this mod.

The guy doing this mod should make it where you have to keep your finger on the button to make it go up. Not one push (or 2) & auto up, just like the dash button. Once you let go of the button the window should stop.

They should have done it like the sunroof and have it stop halfway up.

Hi, I’m having back window problems and I don’t have enough posts to start a thread about my issue. Hopefully this is an acceptable place to post this, I’m new to the forum.
My 4Runner is an SR5, but the previous owner was worried about power windows breaking while he was out on a trail, so he converted the front four windows to hand cranks. He also disabled the rear tailgate window. Up until now I was assuming that all he did was turn the window lock on before removing the door panel switches, disabling the rear window. However, I also put the key in the rear tailgate lock and turned it, and nothing happened. I was wondering if someone who has power windows could do a test by turning on the window lock on the driver’s switch panel and then trying to roll down the rear window using the rear tailgate lock and key. If the window goes down, then he must have done something else...

I agree, the back window is a feature I’m really into. I realized I could just look in the Owners Manual and the window lock does indeed disable the rear lock cylinder from raising and lowering the window.
