This just happened on my 2019 TRD, decided to check the forums before standing on my head to check fuses. YEP! Rear window down a smidge! All fixed up now. So glad I checked this site.

Daughter driving my 03 4th gen limited w/285k
Washer/wiper not working. Mom and daughter mad.
Quick google brought this thread. Had to put cycle back window down slightly and then back up but that did it.
Love this forum. 21 years later my runner just won’t die!!! 285k and original owner.
Anyone have recommended sites where to buy used runners? I’d still buy one with 200k miles. Also noticed prior to 13/14 crash ratings are better.

Crash ratings are better prior to 13/14 because there have been several crash test requirements changes as well as additional tests, not because pre 13/14 are safer/crash better.

Found another fun fact, my rear window and wiper stopped working after body work was done on the rear hatch. I thought for sure I would have to reset the ECU in the hatch as I had this problem with my 4th gen after body work occurred. However my 3 year old was putting her rear window down recently and I hit the window lock button to prevent as it was below freezing out. I discovered that not only does that switch disable the rear window, but it disables the rear wiper which apparently is on the same circuit (explains why they're on the same fuse). But I never dreamed in a massive rain storm that the window lock would prevent my rear wiper from working, so that was a fun discovery for anyone who runs into this lol

I wonder if this is a change on recent model 4 runners, 2014+. I have my window locks on all the time (dog and young child and wife that is constantly too hot or too cold) but my rear wiper and washer works when the button is pressed. the rear window doesn't work but the wiper and washer fluid work. I Have a 2012
what's annoying as hell about the 4runner is that even with the window locks on the DRIVER cannot control the other windows, only the driver window. very annoying

Well damn…! Replaced the motor…still didn’t work…I was pissed…got on here…and lo and behold it was the damn window. Thanks!

Rear wiper and washer suddenly didn't work. Baffling.
Checked fuses under the dash, both looked fine. Checked the relay under the hood, not the issue.

My rear window was apparently down a fraction of an inch.
I put the window up all the way, and the rear wiper started working again. I must have touched the switch at some point.
I cannot imagine how much money Toyota service departments have made off of this.

This (dead rear wiper) happened to me a couple of times during my 4yrs of owning my Gen5. But I don't nudge / touch that button. I swear
Rather, my thinking is that I relied on the Auto-Up feature to fully close the window for me, and I wonder / suspect / think that maybe the Toyota "now closed" sensing was a bit premature. In every case, I could pull up on the switch to close that back window, and I could hear it move just a bit. And the rear wiper resumed proper operation.
