It adds HP in the same ways the hood scoop on the trail edition does and the TRD badge on the pro does...

It should be universal for 5th gens with backup camera on the nav screen. I will need testers with different models for this when the time comes.

Dongle will add about 25 HP at the wheels. Limited edition models with all red wire may be offered at one point which will give you about 150 extra ponies.

I will volunteer as a tester. I have a 2016 Trail Edition with entune/nav. I like beta testing.

2012 Limited w/JBL Nav Head Unit

Antman, you seem to be a genious so I'm hoping you can help. I have a 2012 Limited with the Upgraded NAV with the 7" touch screen and 15 speaker JBL system (not entune). Do you know if the wiring is similar on this system? I would really like to do this mod, but would really like to be sure of what I'm getting into before I start pulling things apart ! considering this vehicle has only 500 miles on it so far

Ok, I think I will try it. This one doesn't even have the entune though, it is the "upgrade" from the entune with DVD nav and 7" screen. I will looke for the connector... and hopefully not break anything! :bash:

Beamik (or anyone else) - have you performed this mod on the Limited w/JBL head unit (no Entune)? I read the entire thread but never saw anyone post saying it worked specifically on the JBL HU.

This would be great while towing the boat!

I know I'm digging up an old(er) thread...my apologies.

I have a 4th Gen and I have done this mod just like the other users here...cut the reverse sensor wire, insert diode (yes, the correct way) and tapped into 12v power. I have wired it into an FJ Cruiser Parking Assist Switch (I really like the factory switches).

However, I'm running into a slight issue. When I depress the switch, the screen flips to the reverse screen but no image appears. The "check surroundings" is present showing it's sensing reverse, but no image. Even more perplexing, when I shift the vehicle into reverse like normal, image appears and everything is fine. No errors or lights pop up when the switch is flipped.

I'm not an electrical engineer but I know it's got something to do with the power. I know the wires are all connected to the right places on the switch. I used the IN4004 Rectifier Diode as specified in post#63. I previously used another diode which wasn't a rectifier one and it forced the VSC, TRAC lights on.

Any help is so greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Just tried this with my 14 Trail Edition (connecting where eddiebx showed on the wiring harness to Nav) and with the wiring setup y'all have been talking about swell as the same switch as (sp8ball).

Works Great!!!

So back in post #59 there was a diagram for a SPST for the entune with nav headunit. Anyone have that? Just trying to confirm the wiring colors and connector. That diagram is no longer there. I know it requires a diode which I have already. Thanks
