I have the auto dimming rear mirror. Unfortunately it doesnt dim anymore. I have tried to find out the cause. Mo real direction.

My wife placed a child mirror (slip on the end style) and only once habe I seem it dim.

It sure would be nice to have this work. I have looked in times past exhaustively only to find no real assistance other than purchase a new one. Btw those are expensive!

Thanks in advance

it may be a stupid question but is the slip on mirror blocking the sensor? I think its on the mirror itself.

Tresvn has a fair point, another stupid question... is it turned on?

If that isn't the answer, then you're going to want to check the voltage going in and the switch to make sure its getting everything it needs. Chances are though, you'll need a new auto-dimming mirror. I see a fair amount fail over time.

Well before i put the added mirror on it wont auto dim. It currently is on the right side. I thought i noticed the 1 time dim when the added mirror was on the left. This was about 12 months ago however.

Yes it is on. Because the compass is on. Sounds silly but i have never checked the voltage and dont have a meter but am willing to learn what to do or find someone that can help me with this.

I think there's a separate button to turn the auto dimming function on and off, so the compass having power is only a good sign that the auto dimming function is getting power. Perhaps try looking for the "AUTO" button and give it a press (not sure if that's the same label on your mirror, I have a 5th gen).

I will post up a picture of it later. I do not recall it having more than 1 button which is just a power button.

The ebay thing wasn't a bad option even at $100.00.
