Receiving text/e-mail "on screen" via entune

Good morning,

For those with the entune/nav option and who also use an iPhone, are you able to receive (read) text and e-mail messages on your nav screen? For whatever reason, entune will not load my texts/e-mails onto my nav screen. Not a big deal in the scheme of things, but I'm just curious if others have experienced the same entune synching anomaly.

Southman,

The Bluetooth connection between my iPhone and my T4R's Entune/Nav system works fine. That is, the wireless (Bluetooth) hands-free phone feature and wireless synching between Entune and the music stored in my phone works fine.

What I'm inquiring about occurs when my phone is tethered to entune with a USB cord. In this instance, I am able to access Bing (i.e. search the web), use my phone and access my stored music via the steering wheel controls, but I am not able to receive texts or e-mails- even when my phone is wired to the T4R's port in the glove box.

This MAP feature- you mention that iPhones lack it. Is the MAP feature still necessary when the iPhone is tethered to the T4R's port in the glove box?

I understand . I don't think it works anyway. The map profile enables the phone to communicate with the head unit for SMS and email. It was the same issue I had with my sync system in my long gone Ford SHO. I have a Motorola Z9 that was able to send texts messages etc because it had the profile regardless whether it was hooked or not. I think based on all the information I found researching about that same issue that map is the issue. I want to get a sim card for my z9 and see how it looks on the entune , it worked flawless on the sync.

When yall connect for bluetooth audio does it always connect reliably? Mine takes a few tries sometimes (just for audio, not phone), its annoying.

Thanks for the info. Just upgraded to IOS6 and probably buying a LTD with Entune in the coming week, so all info helps.

Looking forward to getting rid of the illegible SR5 stereo mostly.

Android and texts/emails?

I have an Android phone. I have no access to texts/emails through Entune. Is there any work around or solution for this? I'm running the latest version of Android on a Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Thanks!

According to phonearena.com your Galaxy note II has the required Bluetooth profile "Message Access Profile" for text messaging. I have a Galaxy S4 and it works. Email does not work. You may want to delete the phone from Entune and vise versa and reconnect it. If all is well you will see a message asking if you want to enable messaging on Entune.

Thanks. I might try that.

Text Iphone5??

I've read this, but not sure I understand. My text options on Entune are grayed out and the manual says the Iphone won't work.

Is anyone getting on screen texts with an I-phone5. If so how?

Also, is it "unusual" for the Entune/Nav to lock up and go into re-boot? I've got around 600 miles and have seen it a few times (I think.) Latest last night. I did an update a few weeks ago.

Also the Nav can't make up its mind between Day and Night mode at night with the headlights "on." The "night" mode sucks, and don't see any setting to change the color scheme from black with blue streets, i.e. illegible mode.

Not Me, All Above same for me (2013 Entune/Iphone5)

I'm using the iPhone 4S and I'm receiving texts through the unit. My NAV has shut down once on me. I have 120 miles so far!
