Recommendation on running boards please

Wow that friggin sucks!! Mine came in that same box but had chunky blocks of cardboard at the ends to protect them.
Do you have the OEM mud flaps? If so I had to cut about an inch of the fronts of my boards (see pic) because they stuck out into the rear wheel well. So maybe you'll be trimming that off. Or you could file down the end just enough to get rid of the buggered part.
I know these "fix it" options suck but it's better than waiting another month for new ones. Good luck!

My DeeZee Running Boards arrived last Friday, but I finally had a chance to mount them tonight.
I'll be honest, they are nice boards but I almost took them off. I just am not "feeling" them. Maybe they will grow on me.
The instructions were pretty well thought out and the install was very easy. The brackets are steel and powdercoated. The runningboards themselves are aluminum and plastic and rubber. The ends got a little bit banged up in shipment. It wasn't horrible so I installed them anyways.
I am probably going to keep these for the next year or so, but I think I will end up with some rocky mountain sliders or bud builts and trimming the rocker. I think the boards stick out a little too much, I would want them to not stick out anymore than the tires do, but whatever it is just a step I guess.
They are pretty solid. I am 230lbs and they really don't budge unless I JUMP on them. Overall for $280, they are a pretty economical running board and look decent and I think they will last.

If they were in as far as your tires then there wouldn't be any where to step.
Without going out in the dark to look, aren't the holes slotted where the boards bolt to the brackets so you can move them in a little? Probably only about an inch but it'll get them a bit closer.

Honestly, those look good - about as good as running boards are gonna get. Any narrower and they won't serve their purpose.

Yes. It needs a wash, but I will get some up in the next day or so.
they just looked like chopped stamped/metal to me. I think they would look better with a rolled edge

As far as running boards go (not sliders), that is about as good as it gets. Look SO much better than OEM, mine arrive Wednesday. Will post pics, should look good against my black wheels

I agree, they have really grown on me. I told myself when I bought the runner I was not going to lift/ mod this one that much..... I am considering some 5100's now to help with mushy sr5 suspension and level the runner. So much for the no mod idea!

Well, they just showed up. They look like post #62 BUT worse :redbrick: Bent ends, chipped powder coat, the works. Customer Service said they get LOTS of returns for DZ stuff. I mean how hard can it be to put styrofoam or extra cardboard on the ends of the box. Even my brackets were whack, box looked like an crinkled brown lunch bag, all scratched up. Six brackets in the box, nothing else, not even a piece of plastic, all in there rubbing and scratching each other up :wtf:
I am not even dealing with a replacement, and getting pissed off when I get the same crap packaging in return. Full refund for me. Back to the drawing board...
