Hey Everyone,

I have been lurking around this forum for a few years, and many of your trucks and how to tips have helped me start to build up my 4runner. I love this vehicle and have lots of plans.

So I will attempt to catch it up here, and then hopefully continue as I add on.

First Off, Here is the Truck the Day I bought it April 8, 2014... brand new, 18miles...

Prior to that trip, It received:

As all of you know, when it comes to mods on your truck, it is all about balancing paying your bills and buying cool stuff for the truck!

With the ECDD trip on the horizon, I found out that we would be on Ham, not CB. I have had a handheld CB and some FRS radios that i had been using, but apparently, this group stepped it up a bit... So the race was on to study and get licensed, I missed my opportunity for a license test prior the trip, so I got listen on a hand held, but not do any talking!

This hastened the need for real comms in my truck. I picked up an ICOM 5100, the features were really cool and I knew I wanted a digital radio. I also figured if i spent that money, it would really push me to study and get my license.

Some friends and I also signed up for FJSummit this summer, and apparently they all use CB, so I picked up a Cobra 75wx ST. I really like that I can disconnect the radio and stow it somewhere for the 90% of the time where I won't be using it.

Here is the install... I may change the location of the radio, as it did not occur to me that the vent I put it in front of, only blows cold air in the summer... heat is no good for the radio, so it will most likely move.

ICOM installed under seat, speakers for CB and Ham

Dash pulled apart for cable run



Take your time with this part, you don't want to break any of the tabs

Cable for Head unit, routed in dash and I notched a hole for it come out by the clock



Pulled the center console for the CB install and routing the controller wire for Ham.

Also Installed my National Luna dual battery Controller as well.

This past weekend, I got my new Shrockworks dual battery and pump relocation kit in. I originally installed the aux battery against the passenger side fire wall on a mount I made up, but it wobbled too much for my liking. After reading some reviews on this kit, and talking with the folks at Shrockworks, I decided to spend the money and get a kit that would hold up.

The instructions were awesome, but here are some pictures of the install

You can see my old tray, which sucked... even after reinforcing I could wobble the battery with 1 finger.



Removing the airbox gave you plenty of room to work



Cutting the Emission pump lines and the Tee was probably the most nerve racking part





The rubber isolators for the pump were really easy, but take your time, if they break you are due for a trip to Toyota





After that there is some hose cutting and re-routing, and bolting stuff down







and now the battery is up front, where it should have been all along!





I think the whole project took about 2.5 hours. It was really simple with the instructions they sent.
