Remote Start Question

Alright, well i to start out I have a 2006 4runner with a 4.0L I have had it for a year now and I LOVE the truck, and I have been reading the forums for about a year as well, finally decided to join. But anyways on to my question. I had remote start installed in my truck in October, Viper 2 way(can't remember the model number) well had alot of trouble with the system after muliple times back at the shop that installed it, they put a relay in between the brake switch and the remote start system. Well that worked for a little while system broke again. They installed a Clifford 2 way system in place of the viper and turns out it was an issue with the tach wire. Problem solved, system has been working for almost 2 months. But the left that relay in with the brake switch so everytime you hit the pedal, CLICK every single time, it's driving me insane. Now the short of my question is the relay on the brake switch needed or is it just another thing to go wrong? I can't imagine a relay going of that many times a day is going to last very long.

when you remote start the truck, go inside and hit the brakes and it should shut the whole thing down.

Yes the system shuts down when you hit the brake. The remote start functions properly. I'm just wondering about the relay tied in with the brake switch if im stuck dealing with the clicking everytime i hit the brake. It clicks even in normal driving so everytime you hit the brake no matter what the relay clicks.

With a quality relay, it shouldn't be an issue but that said, if you can hear it clicking, I wonder what kind of relay they used? We always used Bosch relays and I don't recall ever being able to hear them "click" when activated?

It's pretty far behind the dash on the drivers side so I can't get a good look at it. But i'd imagine it's not a top of the line relay. It's fairly loud my passenger can hear it. A thought might be buying a more expensive relay and swapping it out.

FWIW the relay that I bought from O'Reilly for my roof rack lights made a clicking sound. It was a Baja brand I believe. I can imagine how annoying that must be for you. For me, it was only when I'd flip the switch to turn the lights on.

Turn the radio up louder...should drown out all those annoying creaks, clunks, clicks, and female voices. Been using that technique for as long as I could drive.
