Remote Start suggestions?

Hi Guys, i dont know much about remote starts but would like to get one installed on my 2006 v8 sport, any suggestions? would putting one in mess up my ignition or anything?

ive got a cheap one on mine, it was under 150 installed & uses the stock key fob. works fine, & is adjustable. i can start my vec. during winter while still inside the building, leave the heat controls on, & its toasty warm when i come out. (gotta love that) its an AVITAL 4000XL, but theres plenty of better brands out there.(different key fobs, w/wo alarms, etc.) its whatever brands the install shop carries. i went with the cheapest, but its served me well for over 2 years now.

If you have an iPhone, there is an app for starting your car and unlocking. I can't recall what it's called though. I don't have it, but remember reading about it.

Last year I went with a Clifford system on mine. Cost a bit but am plenty happy with it. I had the doors hooked up so I didn't need my factory remote anymore for the truck. And it's a two way so if you don't see your truck the remote will tell you if it started or not.

They had to have 2 special modules for the Runner, the security bypass module which is pretty standard these days (but costs a bunch none the less) and another module so the auto headlights would work correctly after.

Was $700-ish CDN out the door and am happy with the performance a year later.

My advice is make sure you get a good known brand. The way they are hooked up they get their signals and such from so many electrical places in your truck, which if things go bad can make your truck do all kinds of funny things and be a real pain.

Oh, I figured I'd add this too.

My 96 had a Command Start installed when it was new in Dec. 96. Still works perfect. Door locks also hooked up. I'm a big fan of dependability/reliability (hence owning a Toyota) and this one has proven to be just that.

There are alot of extra fancy stuff a person can get these days with them, but I figure if it's got less toys then there'll be less things to break.

I can't say that the Command Starts are still good today, but I've had good luck with that one.

get compustar, pricey but worth it, costed me 800 installed for all the things i had added on.

also compustar has a thing call computrack, allows u to track or start ur car from the phone, handy if u are like 5 blocks or more away, but the 3000ft of range on the 2w900fm is plenty, unless u get the 6000ft range

I am running a Viper 5901 and am extremely happy with it. I installed it myself so I didn't really shop around for installation prices but I know Best Buy has them installed for $599.00

I've had a Viper on my '03 for 6 years now and 0 problems. It works great and also does power door locks and the roll-down feature on the rear window.
