Remote start

Ok i know i know!

I've read everywhere but i need everyone's opinion.

I have a 2019 Limited and from what i've read, if i have a limited with the premium sound i should have the remote start. It doesn't work on my runner. I talked with the dealership and its like talking to a wall. ALSO my runner had the entune in it but since they got rid of it i cannot connect to my truck.

can someone shed some light on this please?

Remote Start is only available on Pro and LTD trims, and not sure if as far back as 2019. There are after market kits though.
What do you mean "they got rid of" your Entune?

i have the option to setup entune but it wont allow me to set up a credit card and the app isnt available anymore. sorry im new to the 4runner world

no ive got that setup but i just watched that video and i get the same pop up saying Entune requires a subscription but i cant set one up anywhere

If you’re after remote start, skip the subscription stuff and instal one that you don’t pay for monthly.

I was disappointed to find my new 2022 Off Road Premium didn’t have “connected services” so I did a little Amazon shopping.

The Start-X unit was plug & play, taking less than an hour to install. No wires were cut and nothing modified from stock.

Three clicks on remote lock button to start, three clicks to stop.

Works great.

2019 and below had a dealer add on module for remote start.
With the doors closed, press lock, lock and hold lock on the third press. If it doesn't start, you don't have it.

I used 12volt.solutions on my 18 LE with the app module. They typically have sales going on so don't pay the full price. Easy install. Loved it and never had an issue. Could start the truck while I landed at the airport in the terminal and it was warmed up for when I got to the truck. Also could geo locate the truck and lock/unlock doors from anywhere it had a signal via the app. Will do doing the same for my 23 ORP coming in the next few weeks. So if you don't have the OEM remote start (sounds like you don't) there are some great aftermarket ones available.

Did the dealer installed module include the other Toyota Remote Connect features?

Since 2013 when we got our SR5 and joined this site, I can't remember one person that was happy with the entune infotainment Nav factory system. Most folks go aftermarket and find solutions that don't require a monthly fee.

There have been all sorts of issues from poor performance, update issues, phone pairing issues, etc. Some folks have completely replaced the system and there are options out there that have reportedly much better performance than stock.

For me, I don't use my phone while driving and use a Garmin GPS for nav that is easily moved to any vehicle; and has free lifetime updates. I also don't really care about big stereo, playlist, big sound so the stock radio works fine for me.

Previous threads on this have listed other vendors like Crutchfield for replacement systems. There are also aftermarket alarm systems too. So far I've had no issues with the factory alarm; however it's never been tested!

2020 things got better for the 4runner. Apple carplay and phone app to remote start.

2019, replace that deck and get an aftermarket remote start, dont fight it. Toyota finally admitted recently that their OEM tech sucked.
