Removing tailgate interior panel

I have a really annoying rattle that I believe is coming from somewhere in the rear tailgate so I wanted to take the interior panel off and see what's up. Does anyone have any "intructions"? Or is it just a case of prying/yanking it off like any other interior panel? Thanks.

I need to do the same thing in order to remove the "chrome" piece above the license plate. It seems that there is a scratch on the tailgate right at the edge of it and it has started rusting. I need to clean it and repair it.

Originally there was a scratch in the left corner; I asked the dealership to repair it, $256 later they fixed it but probably scratched the right corner when installing the chrome piece back

Their touch-up work was bad quality too... I am sure I can do much better myself. But removing the tailgate interior lining and stuff seems tricky...

The pics in the link do not work for me for some reason... Is there anything else we can look at? Thanks!

I just pulled mine off when I replaced the License Plate Garnish Assembly. It actually comes off really easily. After removing the strap, just use a plastic putty knife (or in my case I used a gasket scraper and put tape over it - worked great) to pop off the panel. once all the clips are popped lift it up about a 1/4 inch to clear the lip than hangs over the edge next to the glass and it comes right off.

I agree bro...I'm in the process of sound deadening my 3rd gen and the tailgate is the last step in my process. Finished the 4 doors, the floors, replaced the stupid motorized antenna.
