Rental car w/ extended warranty?

I called my dealer yesterday because my seat rattle has been getting worse. According to him, Toyota won't give me a rental car while they fix the problem - ok I can live with that. I then told him I had the extended warranty, which does give you a rental car. He said that AFTER i bring it in and AFTER the tech looks at it and AFTER the tech diagnoses the problem, he will then call the warranty company (which is toyota) and ask them if they will cover the rental car.

So it looks like I have to wait at the dealer for an hour or two before they can even tell me if I can have a rental. He did say I can just get a rental, and hope that it is covered???

Is this normal or should I find a new dealer?

I'd read your warranty closely for the details of coverage and then you can confidently take the loaner if it is within the warranty parameters.

I would look for a new dealer. I get a free loaner for everything I get done at my dealership. It never even came up about it being cover by warranty.

Yea... dealerships here lend out "loaner cars" or "courtesy vehicles" if you need one for any service done (need to book it).

Any repairs (body or mechanical) = automatically a free courtesy vehicle. None of this.. "if it's under warranty" BS.

Have you tried any other dealerships? and did you get the same response? Don't ask for a loaner... tell them you need one.
