This is the one I took apart almost 30,000 miles ago. The arrows are pointing to 3 of the 4 copper wires from the windings attached to posts. I can't even see the last one, but it's there.
I actually took the spare one I had apart to get a better understanding. It's not easy to do (not recommended) because of the location of one of the latches but if you need pics I can probably provide.
Thing is, I don't know if the odo will work if the speedo isn't but yours
is working. I know both speedo and odo in mine was not when I disabled the abs (where the signal comes from). Can you move the needle by hand? it's not at all stuck- or so free the shaft moves but the needle doesn't?
I've been doing some research and have also seen a few posts where the shaft was broken...
