Replaced JBL Sub/Added Amp: Install Pics/Info

if only the jl amp is used, on the deck, press and hold the audio, then go to the subwoofer setting, and turn that on, and use sys1.

I just turned on the sub setting and turned it up to 15 and it did nothing? edit for [MENTION=5149]riceandpho[/MENTION] - on sys1, tried sys2, still sounds wimpy as hell. :redbrick:

Subwoofer at 7 first, on sys1, loud off and defeat off, check the hpf at 80 and lpf at 80, on jl amp no boost and set the cross at the max.

cross? I don't have adjustable crossovers, only have the factory ones in the front door speakers?

There's only one pair of RCA jacks so it has to be the right one. Defeat is definitely off. I think loudness may have been on, and the JL amp has max boost on could that be making it wimpier?

do you happen to have a boost knob connected too? unplug it if you do, loud should be off, on the amp crossover set it up at 80 so the deck do everything.

I don't have a boost knob. There's a bass boost on the JL amp that I have turned all the way up

I was wanting to do this too to get a bit more power out of the sub. CUrrently I used the RCAs in the back of my head unit.

I lost the speaker level input wiring doodad for the amp so I was just going to tap the stock sub wiring harness post factory amp use a line out converter and run RCAs to my JX250 amp and then wires to the sub.

Someone tell me if im going to blow stuff up?? :wow:

well im not gonna lie and tell you i know this answer for sure, but my knowledge tells me that there is no need to do that. thats what your input sensitivity on your amp is for. higher input voltage does not equal higher output volume.. your input may be anywhere from .5v to 6 volts, you adjust your input sensitivity on your amp dependant on your input voltage. ideally you want to use a digital multi meter to set your gains on your amp.. like this

I looked into doign that... So are you saying that if i mess with the gain by potentially lowering the input sensitivity knob, i may get more out of the sub?
 
Im still trying to figure out why you keep saying theres not that much output, usually recheck everything from the install to the sound settings. Mght need to reset the deck or amp might be bad, u sure the sub woofer cone is not seperated from the spider.

yeah the sub cone is fine, it's basically brand new, amp is working fine I think? It has a green light on it says its working lol

No. The input sensitivity is not a volume. It's purpose is to match the voltage if your input

This isn't quite right, lpf should be around 80 - 100 hpf should be around30 - 35
