Replacing a 2004 4RUNNER SR5 stocks rims with 2017 4RUNNER STOCK rims

Hello, I just want to know if the 2017 4runner stock rims tire size 265/70/17 would be a direct fit onto my 2004 4runner SR5 V6. My current stock tire size is 265/65/16. I believe our upgraded rims for this generation of 4runner is 265/65/17. Not sure the 265/70/17 would rub in the front.

I have searched online and the consensus seems to indicate it should have no issue.

Let me know if any of you had upgraded to this set. I see a few on craigslist due to people upgrading their new 4runners with lifts and bigger rims.

Those wheels will fit just fine- same backspacing as the stock wheels. I just put ‘18 trail edition wheels on my ‘08. 265/70r17 will fit without rubbing, too.

You might get a slight bit of rubbing at near lock on the fronts...easily fixed with a heat gun and some patience though. I put wheels and tires from a 2016 Trail on my '07 Limited and it rubbed a little

Wings4pn, can you show me what i need to do with a heat gun to prevent the rubbing? Not sure where the near lock is at the front. Do you get the rub when you turn the wheels all the way?

Shouldn't have any issues. May have minor rubbing but nothing insane

Tires are slightly larger, wheel offset is slightly lower (15 vs 30) I ran FJ wheels (Same specs as 5th gen 4R wheels) and didn't have any rubbing 2 min with a razor and a torch didn't fix (heat the plastic and it becomes mold-able)

I am planning on installing it next week.

For me it was the fender wells immediately in front of the tires. All I did was heat up the plastic with the heat gun and press it forward maybe half inch (use gloves, hot plastic hurts bare skin...don't ask how I know).

The rubbing for me happened when I had the wheels turned almost all the way to the right or left. It wasn't a bunch, but enough that it annoyed me.

You'll know pretty quick if you have issues and finding them is pretty easy. Look for the spots where the plastic shows slight abrasions. In my case, my fender wells were dirty so I looked for the spots where the dirt had rubbed clean.

I don’t believe this is correct. The 4th gen has a -15mm and 5th gen has a -30mm back spacing which will push the wheel out a little over 1/2”. This can be huge when clearing UCA’s on tires 275/70/17 or 285/70/17’s.

I just replaced OEM 2004 Sport wheels with OEM 2018 Sport wheels and they fit perfectly. And they are about .5” out further.
