replacing bulbs behind climate control?

I believe his user name is Yosh2000.
These neo bulbs are MUCH cheaper than at the dealer.
I replaced some from the dealer and was quoted something like $3+ dollars each.
When I went to the dealer the parts guy wanted almost $7 each.
Told him the quoted price and they honored it, but will not be buying from dealer again.

Yeah, that's about what my local dealer charged me as well. I replaced three bulbs and it was almost $27. Effing abusrd. I could've price shopped, but honestly didn't want to spend the time so I just bought it from the dealer.

On my Runner, the illumination of the HVAC LED window is visible but very dim. Is there a bulb out? Fatiqued elements?

Thatd be really helpful! Be sure to post links/quantity.

This is with t3 neo led bulbs. Couldn't get the t4 for the lcd to work. I'll need to get some more to finish out the switch gear.

Honestly tho, my OCD is kicking in with some being white and the rest being OEM orange. My eyes don't like it .. So words of advice: do it all at once (center stack + cluster). I might order some 1 smd instead of using these 2 smd led's to see if it'll dim down a bit.

Thanks!

My T4 neo bulbs for the display wouldnt work either. Of course I threw out my old bulbs so now I gotta figure out some compatible bulbs.

To the stealership you go!

I was reading the LED swap thread that the LCD screen is 7v and the LED's are 12v. They don't run. Supposedly the old non SMD T4's from superbrightled worked, but they don't sell them anymore. You can also find a constant 12v and wire it into the LED too. I'm just going to run the T3's for now in all the other switches and leave the LCD orange. You can throw that T4 into the 4wd selector tho.

are the bulbs for the hazards and rear window easily accessible when changing out the climate control bulbs? Mine are out aswell as a few in the climate controls

Plug n' play. Just changed out my rear window bulb. You just have to pop out the individual switches from behind the center panel to access the bulbs. It'll be like swapping out the radio, without doing the radio.

for the climate control its the t4 5630 Samsung which are similar to the old t4 sold by superbrightleds, all i can say is ive had 3 different colors and all work fine. tho i prefer the white since its easier to see.

Out of curiosity, what is it about the Samsung neo's that make them work and what is it about the Superbright neo's that doesn't work? Is it the base or the LED itself? I was considering the Superbrights myself, mainly due to cost.

I am Not trying to be a smrta$$ with this comment at all, but....
Have you tried taking the new bulbs out, rotating them 180 degrees and re-installing them? LEDs by their nature are polarity sensitive.

aside from the fact the samsung use a 5630 led which supposedly brighter than some other brands, and the ones from superbrightled use 3528, they both seem to draw about the same amount which guys are having problems with and end up doing the mod. cant explain why the samsung work but they do for me & seem a bit brighter than the old style from superbrightled i had along time ago. what has been discussed before is the t4 may need some tweaking to work, like bending the wire up for better contact, & opening up the plastic tabs to make sure they lock. sometimes if they are just slammed in & twisted they might not be seated properly.

I've posted this link before for those looking for OEM bulbs

GENUINE TOYOTA OEM COOLER CONTROL CONSOLE BULBS (SET OF 10) 9001009015 - 09019 | eBay

$39.99 for ten bulbs. It took about 15 minutes to change out the bulbs.

I have a huge collection of LED bulbs, T3's and T4's from replacing things in my other Toyotas and not one would fit in the 4th gen so I got fed up and changed all to the factory ones. My dealer was charging about $6 per bulb so the eBay deal was great for me and the arrived quickly.
