Replacing Dash Control (AC/Heater) Unit - Which one?!?

I got some Isopropyl Alcohol on my Dash Control panel (which is the 16 button system that controls the heat/AC, rear defroster, and the display panel above it) in my 2004 4Runner, SR5 so I'm looking at buying a used one. However, there are a few different one's at the junkyards and I'm not sure if they're all interchangeable. For example, can I use any dash control unit from the a 2008 model in my 2004 4Runner?

Also, some are listed with CD or without CD, and some indicate a flat top or a bevel top. Some have a black bezel and some are grey.

I'm hoping that they are all interchangeable, but want to make sure before I buy one from a junkyard half-way across the country!

The problem is that junkyards don't seem to list the Toyota part number online, but instead use their own part number to manage the inventory. This makes it much more challenging finding a compatible one.

Note that new one's are over $1,000, but used one's can be had for $100. Due to the significant cost savings, I may just buy one off a 2008 and see if it's compatible. I'll then post the results in case anyone else could benefit from this info.
