Reprogram doorlocks....anybody?

One of my pet-peeves about more modern cars is the damn door locks. I want ALL of my doors to unlock at the same time I push the unlock button. NOT after pushing the stupid thing twice..three times while leaving my wife or other passenger standing outside the truck. I would also not like to be locked inside...unless I do the locking. In general, I want all the doors to unlock with one command, and all of them to lock with one command, and not unless I do the locking. I took my 06 Saab to the dealer and they were able to do as I asked, does anyone else here have a similar gripe and got it fixed?

What you can do and how to do it is in your owners manual if you have one. Lots of posts on here linking to it if you don't.

Using the switch on the door-panel will render the locks activated or not SIMULTANEOUSLY.

Now, if you are referring to activation via the FOB, well you are on your own. I do believe that function is not alterable.

Good Luck

You can customize your Vehicle's settings via a TechStream factory Scantool. Among the options are one or two button press for all the doors, turning DRL on or off, length of time curtosey lamps stay on or at all, delay for alarm to set, ect. Should be able to get the dealer to customize it for you.

Good info! Serotta, keep us updated.

FYI they will charge you for this...

OUTSTANDING! Thanks for the info...I don't mind shelling out a few clams to fix a gripe. (now...if we could all get the stupid airbag warnings off of the cars we all buy.)

I had mine changed to all unlock with one click at the dealer and they at first said it was going to cost, I said that is bs as it takes like 5 min and I was having service done, they did it without cost. The double click is a pain. I kept the beep so I know that I have unlocked.

**UPDATE**
Got my door-locks squared away today at Jack Taylor's Toyota in Alexandria Va. Spoke to a man named 'Bobby' (manager type) who immediately grabbed a scan-tool and did exactly what I wanted. The only thing that was not performed was the timer for the doors re-locking if you don't open a door within a few seconds (30 or 60) of having unlocked them. There are apparently only two settings...30 and 60 seconds; not an "off" option to disable that feature. In general all I wanted was a simple ALL OPEN or ALL LOCKED setup on my command only. All of that was done FREE OF CHARGE :) except for the timing bit that I mentioned but that cannot be turned off.
Thanks all -
Todd

As part of the purchase arrangements when I bought my '08 SE I had the dealer reprogram the locks,
1 push locks or unlocks all
it does not auto relock
