Double decker. Poor 5th gen with that tray, haha.

I am sure there is more. But really make a new 4th gen with updates and 4.6 v8.

4th gen is my absolute favorite but more room?? They are pretty roomy to me lol maybe you want a Sequoia? :tongue1:

Until they unveil the next-gen, I'm fine with ANOTHER thread on this topic...need something to think about.

I'd love to see a V8 in the next gen.

Give us an option for saddle leather seating, and lose the Softex or whatever it's called.

Move the window controls off the top sill of the door/window. It seems way too easy for rain to get into the controls.

Lose the goofy openings/gill looking things on the front of the existing model.

Improve the comfort of the seats.

This question intrigued me so I looked it up and got a surprising answer.

Currently, Toyota has sold about 100k more 4th gens than 5th gens. If sales followed a typical trend, then the 4th gen disparity would be much bigger. Usually sales decline substantially toward the end of a generation as a new one is approaching, as evident in the sales of the 4th gen (of course this was amplified by the recession).

The 5th gen is interesting because it is going the opposite direction; sales are increasing. I think the main factors are the economy doing better, greater interest in overlanding and off-roading, and less competition.

Not even close. The 4th gen has been the best selling generation of the 4Runner year for year in the U.S. The first four years alone they sold something like 430,000 of them. The 5th gen didn't even reach that number in its first six years. 2016 was a good year for the 5th gen though, with more than 100K sales for the first time.

The 5th gen may have an advantage because it's already on its 8th consecutive year, which is a record for any generation of the 4Runner.
