Retrofitting '06 OEM head unit into '03?

I know this certainly must have been asked here before, but I don't know what to search for in Google to get a result. So far it seems the answer is yes, but I want to make sure I have a definite yes.

I have an '03 Sport with the stock radio, non-JBL. I'm getting a bit tired of the crappy quality of my cassette adapter, and am looking to add a head unit with aux in capability. I located another oem head unit (also non-JBL) from a wrecked '06, and am wondering if I can swap my old unit with this unit and buy the correct harness to finally have an aux line.

I did locate a thread here stating what harness I would need (I assume that doesn't change from JBL to non-JBL), but before I proceed I want to know if this could work. Thanks!

I got a Scion T1806 and that gave me Ipod, AUX, and much better quality sound on the stock speakers. I was able to pull an AUX jack with harness from a wrecked TC in a junkyard. I took out one of the blank buttons from the center console next to the DAC button, cut the ends off and glued it to the AUX jack. Fit right in.

Ditto with what simple said. I bought a Scion T1808 off ebay and it plugs directly into my iPod. I can control the iPod through the stereo. Some people don't like that but I find it easy enough. X2 on the T1808. Put one in my 03 with an ipod cable comin up thru the ashtray. Awesome quality. Get a 2-to-1 antenna connector tho, cuz if u dont, u lose a lotta FM signal strength!

The advantage of t1806 over the t1808 IMO is that the 1806 has the ability to select different color lights but also has the stock orange color. Whereas the 1808 has a more reddish orange display. The t1807 does not have iPod capability though I don't know about AUX.

Is there any other considerable difference between the T1806 and T1808? I've read that the T1808 does support steering wheel controls, not sure about the T1806... in addition, does anyone know what harness to look for on Ebay? Not particularly interested in an iPod connector, just the aux harness. Thanks!

OK, my bad about not doing research into the cables. I'd need an SC12235 for iPod connectivity, or an SC12337 for a 3.5mm output.

Only problem is, I can't find the latter cable anywhere. Google and Ebay return nothing. Any help? Thanks.
