Rigid 40" or (4) 6" LED Light Bars

Ok, I've searched about as well as I can for this information and there doesn't seem to be a discussion on this particular topic that I could find.

I am looking to get Rigid LED lights on my Gobi Stealth and would like to know info about whether to go with the 40" Combo vs having (4) 6" rigid lights.

Benefits of either setup? Thoughts?

I'm trying to get an array of opinions so I can make my best decision. I really appreciate the input and discussion. Now lets light up this thread ;)

I know you and I have discussed this via PM but I'm going to post here for others to see as well. My opinions of course.

40" LED bar-
Wiring-less wiring to deal with for installation.
Higher output vs. 4 6" lights (assuming we're dealing with similar optics for both)

4 6" bars
Control of where the light output shines. You can pivot any of the bars to put the light where you need it.
Ease of repair/replacement if need be (you won't be out of light if one goes bad and you have to send it out for repair/replacement)

There is also the choice of color configuration and beam pattern. Your choices with 4 separate lights are almost limitless. With a single 40" bar, you do have the option to choose colors and config, but it will come at a cost. And if I remember correctly, you can have color and beam pattern in your choice every 4" increments. Other custom options are separate switching within the 40" bar (ie. only outer yellow floods light up or just center spot by itself). Obviously, you'll get that with separate lights.

Personally, I like the look of a single light bar on top. It is less effective for your perimeter lighting, though. Of course, now Rigid addresses this issue with their new RDS system (not yet released).
 
Appreciate the chat in PM and this response. After talking with you I am definitely leaning towards a 40" due to cleanliness of the wiring and such. I don't need multi coloring or different aiming (I say this now until I find myself needing it haha).

The RDS one looks pretty slick but not sure I want to put an extra $350 into the light for it. I'm already questioning spending 1300 for a friggin light :mmph:

I was hoping to hear some additional viewpoints to make my decision solid without regret! Thanks in advance
 
I would go with the new E2 Series 40" Combo bar. More money, but an additional 2000 lumens. The E2 Combo consists of new Hyperspot/Driving Specter lenses.

Still trying to figure out what "hyperspot" is, it's less lumens than the regular spot, so how is it better?

trying to get me to spend even more money on a light :ybrick:

If that is all I had planned I would think about it but my fund supply for mods is limited and I want to maximize what I can get for those funds.

Is the E2 really worth the extra $200? If that's the case, is it worth even another $150 to wait for the RDS version? why do these have to be so expensive haha
 
[MENTION=68685]Ducmonsta[/MENTION] I remember looking at their website about a month ago, in fact I remember posting about it and trying to figure out what the advantage was because the lumens count was less on the hyperspot.

I just re-visited Rigid's website and that is not the case for the 6", I stand corrected.

I was looking into the 20" bar and vividly remember that the numbers of the Hyperspot combo was less than the regular spot/flood combo. I can't verify what I previously saw since it looks they took down the specs for whatever reason?

Haha, I love spending other peoples' money for them.....:reddance:

I have just been drooling over Rigid lights lately and like the specs on the E2's with the new lens technology. Everything I read says the E2's have more lumen output per 10" section:confused:

Yeah, I am a sucker for bigger/better things and always to seem to want the best so the E2 is definitely striking me as awesome. I'm still trying to convince myself I do not need a rigid light but they are awesome and I want one.

I don't do any major off-roading but think this would be nice when out and about in the mountains. But is it really necessary? probably not. Will it make my vehicle bad ass which makes me happy, probably.

damn this forum... I would never have even heard of rigid lights. :lightsaber:

Best reason i have heard of to have a Rigid 40.......Use it as a "Get the F--- Out of My Way" light on the freeway when someone is in the fast lane unnecessarily.:first:

I can't wait to actually do this haha. These things aren't "illegal" to use on actual roads are they? :lookout:

Let's just say, keep it on the down low.....probably don't want to make a habit of doing that. Use them like your brights and you would be fine.

Here is a link to a place that has them for $1312 and free shipping. Never heard of them and they currently show out of stock, but it is the best price I have seen.

It's only illegal if you get caught :police:

But seriously, you should check with the locals to see what kind of laws you have around there. I've heard some places are extremely strict and you can't even have them installed on your vehicle without opaque covers when driving.
 
Honestly guys, the Rigid lights are bright enough to cause temporary blindness if they hit a driver directly. This could easily cause a serious accident. Are you willing to live with that?

I don't want to preach here, but they must be used responsibly. I have inadvertently left mine on and blinded oncoming drivers. One driver even pulled over and stopped on the shoulder. I felt horrible when that happened!

I keep my finger on the switch at all times now if I use them on the backroads...

Buy once! But seriously, I started with a SR40 and am now on a E40. The SR was plenty of light for it's purpose. But everyone around me started getting the Eseries and I thought it looked so good after several installs.

Let's be realistic. We're mostly buying them for aesthetics with the occassional blast what's in front of you. I do use them often when headed out to the coast and driving through the Tillamook forest. Even heading out to the gorge here in Washington/Oregon.

Only have used my lowly 30 once on a road because a driver forgot to turn their brights off and I flashed mine at them. They promptly turned on their driving lights... I lit them up...all my lights full bore. I won. Even chuckled. :laser:

Edit: never thought of taking a shoe off and throwing it... Then again, I would be out a shoe.
