I hate those links so much. Thats two big failures now that have been caused by the bolts just falling out. I torque the sh*t out of them, idk how they come out. I'm getting lock washers and lock nuts once I get the re-re-built upper links in. followed by a gallon of superglue :flamethrwoer2:

I was actually BS'ing with nick that I would do a f150 tank swap once we found out that the '96 tank wouldn't work. I seriously considered it, would have been cheaper..

Unfortunately, the cost of this whole fiasco has halted my rear suspension upgrade plans for a while.

Dang dude that sucks about the tank! Just a thought, but you might want to try the lock washers and some Loctite on the UCA bolts to make sure they don't come out again.

On another note, I really like the blue/silver scheme, looks awesome!

I love your 4runner. It's absolutely one of my favorites. When and if I ever get some new bumpers, they will be color matched to my 4runner just like yours.

Repaint Sliders / Add Grip Tape

Today I had some free time so I re-painted my sliders and added some grip tape to them.

The paint I already had and the pack of precut safety tape was $3.87





This was the condition of my sliders for pretty much a year now, exposed metal and oxidation.








So I used the wire wheel and ground off all the oxidation and prepped for repainting.


Primer:




Paint




Cleared:






Then for the grip tape, the package came with 8 pre-cut strips:




I cut two of the strips into smaller pieces:




Applied:

In other news, I finally received the new johnny joints I ordered. You may notice I have two different bungs. I had a bit of a disagreement with Curie enterprises and will write a little story on that later. I had to order a second bung elsewhere.

I like the red and black look too, but once I got that blue fairlead on there, I just had to go blue.

Sliders look good Jim, those strips are really durable also! I have had the same ones on mine since January and they have not budged from being stood on or lost any noticeable amount of anti-slip properties on top.

Different valving, and the resi allows for crossflow. The 5150 is designed for high speed stuff and it absorbs bumps a lot better. At low speeds there is not very much of a difference between 5125 and 5150.


They are a good value. The quality of ride compared to much more expensive shocks like fox and Icon is not worth it for those ones. Atleast IMO.


I got another one and its staying on, lol. It was too much silver up front without a little black to mix things up.

How do you do all the different quotes like this?

I guess while I'm posting now I'll just ask here. With stock bumper and rear 891 coils you said it was too stiff.. How do you think the stiffness would feel with a steel bumper?

Like they said, multi-quote. If you are on a computer, there are three options at the bottom right of everyones posts, the middle one is multi-quote.

Click that multi-quote tab on all the posts you want to quote and click the Quote tab on the last one.

891s will be fine with a steel bumper
