4X Innovations rear swing out bumper ordered!

My wallet feels a lot lighter.

I ordered a rear bumper, no BL, with rear light bucket cut outs, swing out tire carrier, single jerry can mount, hi-lift mounts, and fold down table.

I need to order some beefier rear springs, probably 861s (I want to keep the rake), as well as some Sonoran Steel rear body mounts to keep the bumper from flexing into the body.

I need to research what Blue Sea fuse box I want to mount to my new MJT fuse box mount. So far, I have some PIAA fog lights, winch, ARB compressor, and something else I am forgetting...

Now if we could just get the PNW's weather to get the memo that the rain can take a friggin break, that'd be great.

You'll dig the bumper man. Got one on mine. It's real solid. You'll definitely want a longer spring though. I have OME 891's on mine and the rear is pretty low. Only about 1.5" higher than stock. I do have a fridge in the back too though.

Rad man. 4xinnovations I'm assuming.

My electrical system is done other than the winch. I'm still trying to decide what I want to do with it. Right now the positive wire is just coiled by the battery. When I want to use it I just undo the wingnut on the positive terminal and hook the winch up that way. I've thought about wiring in a kill switch but the only place I have room to mount it is on the fan shroud. If I ever go with a dual battery set up that's gonna hose me. I might just leave it like I have it and just connect it every time before I go wheeling. It takes all of 2 minutes.

That looks great! Man, everyone here really does a great job of taking kick-ass photos. And nice to see it in the same trim. It seems like the majority of 4runners have some sort of fender flares. I had the same chrome ones, and now I don't have any.

I can't wait to get everything together and do some exploring. As far as springs go, I am currently just running LC 7 wraps. I know a few people use LC 8 or 9 wraps, but I want to make sure they can handle the weight, so I will probably just pick up 861s. They seem to be the go-to coil for swing outs.

Yes sir. 4XInnovations. The more I looked at all the options, the more, I came to like what they had to offer. I also like the modular aspect of the Savage Offroad rear bumper. I was on the waiting list, but this gave me some time to weigh my options.

I have been waiting to do a few electrical things all at one time. My goal is to not set my rig on fire. Unner has a cool winch kill switch on his rig that I would like to incorporate as an option. Check his build out. If I recall it is a marine style dial that opens and closes the circuit. Winches seem to be able to kill batteries fast, so having a bit of extra insurance never hurts. But having it discoed for use when you need it works too.

BTW, I know it was a little extra work, but that bumper looks great on your 4runner! Have you come to any decision on wheels, or size wheels? I was very tempted to get some fancy pants SCS Ray 10s. I dig those a lot. My other favorites are SCS 5 stars, and FN 5-Stars. But really, there are so many cool options out there.

I would give some consideration to what size tires you want to end up with. I would say this... If you think you might be interested in 255 (tall / skinny) tires, I would say get 17" wheels. There seems to be more options. It seems like although the Cooper site says that they offer 255/85/16s, just try getting them through discount tire, or DT direct, or DT ebay. You won't find them on their twice a year ebay sale. And you can still go 285s with 17s if you want. I haven't been watching the price difference between the 16s and the 17s too much since I decided to stick with non-flashy Pro Comp 7069s in 16" for now. Ha! Wheels are an easy thing to agonize over with all the options. I am interested to see what you come up with.

You need to share some more pics man.

Thanks for the compliments on the bumper. I keep thinking of starting a build thread but then I remember how I hardly ever take photos and how lazy I am.

Funny you should ask about wheels. I just picked up some MB 352's in 17x9. The nine part rules out a skinny tire so I'm still debating 285/70, 295/70 and 285/75. Tire wise I'm waiting till I can get a deal on the Nitto Ridge Grappler. That tire is one of the reasons I went 17". The weight of these and the price where right to.

Nice score! Holy cow! Those are cool looking rims too. The 295s might look a bit cooler. But they are pretty close. Either or. Hahahaha, I know that I would be burning countless hours comparing pics of both 285 vs 295. Sometimes it just comes down to finding a good deal on a particular size. I know BigFishAllDay ended up with 295/75/16s on his rig because he was given just such an option. You might have to do a tad more trimming or pounding for clearance. It would depend on your BS and tire combo, but noting unconquerable for you you I am sure.

Well, you are half way there. Maybe there will be a Memorial Day sale or something. That, or 4th of July.

I hear you about starting a build thread. I just sort of do things and add in spurts. It will be nothing for a while then I try to catch up and document a bit when I can. There are a lot of people on here that I wish would have a build thread. I end up skimming through pages and pages trying to reference something that I know I have read somewhere, or figure out what someone is using and so on. lol.

If you get 861s make sure to wrap the top progressive coils in spiral cable wrap so you don't get a noise from the coils touching and vibrating together. I had this noise and it was fixed with the spiral wrap, but it was super difficult to do on the truck. Off the truck you could have them on in 10 minutes though...

Ha! That figures. I was just down there. Memorial day weekend. If I head down again, I will let you know man.

Nice buy. It has been a long time coming, and I think that setup will work out well for you.

Thanks man. It HAS been a long time coming. I called today to get a ballpark for shipment. They said that they got the pieces back from the laser cutters and might look like 3-4 weeks.

When you jumped up to 861s, did you do anything different with the sway bar extensions? I am pretty sure you are still running the SS drop brackets for the sway bar. Just wondering if you changed anything there. Also did you end up adjusting your panhard to accommodate for additional lift?

I might also be considering getting a half inch body lift partly for wheel clearance, partly for bumper to body clearance. My AOR front bumper is touching the right fender and it might be nice to have a bit of clearance to prevent body to bumper rub.

Pinch weld fun.

Worked on my pinch welds using Unners write up as my spirit animal. I got the welds bent, then pounded, sanded, primed, and painted. I used a heat gun to try to mold the wheel liner to give more clearance.

I learned a small handle 2.5 lbs. Hammer was a bit light for pounding. I learned that those dumb plastic retainers break, and are evil. And I think I still need to fuss with the liner because I need to secure it out of the way better and get some more retainers to lock it out of the way.

I'll be that guy and ask. Do they rub still? 33's are in my future too.

Ha! For me, yes. I think this will be easily remedied once I get a proper alignment using my SPC Light Racing UCAs vs. Just a simple Firestone alignment.

Excellent! I have SPC UCAs waiting on the parts shelf. Looking forward to an update on how those arms and an alignment help with rub.

Right on. These SPCs offer a lot of adjustability, so they should be able to bring the wheels forward enough to clear just fine. A lot of others have run this set up, Big Fish All Day runs SPC Lucas I believe as well as similar wheels with the larger 295 KO2s.. Actually... I think he has a .5" or 1" BL... But still, it should be fine.

I am digging your build. Looks like it is really coming together quickly.
