Rock Sliders: thread plate or not?

Grandkids use them a lot. I like the look much better without.

Shrockworks, plated. I like the look! They project about 2” off the body, 4” at rear doors that serves as a step for rooftop access. Projection was enough to save the driver door from a slide on icy road into a tree….not lifted so they are well used on the bottom where no one sees.

To piggyback off this. Anyone with the C4 know if they require drilling? Their website says no, but I saw an install video and they drilled on the cross member on one side. Thanks!

There is a part of the install that does need drilling into the crossmember to put a bolt through. But When I installed my C4 sliders. I did not have a drill at the time of install, so I never ended up drilling and its been about 3 years now lol. Its been holding up well and never thought about it until I saw this thread and post. I"ll get to drilling it one of these days. But I think it should be fine as it is. Also, I opted to have thread plates to have as a step for my family and any added protection. I also like the look of it.

They work great! The rear kick out and insert plate is perfect for my kids to get in and out.

Haha I am thinking of doing the same. Not sure I will use it for a hi-jack lift either way.

Any pictures of your rig? I have the sherpa roof rack and mine would look very similar except in lunar rock.
