Roof Rack options / help

I was thinking that if I held out long enough I would be buying one for a 6th Gen with a D4D :keyboard:
I just like to make decisions once and not have to sell something later. Now that I have made my decision I am chomping at the bit for some correspondence from bajaracks. They are closed through New Years Day though :uzi:

No problem. I think you know a product is good when people who own it want everyone else to have one as well.
When I dealt with them back in November John was fantastic at replying to my emails - often within an hour. I suspect they'll have a bit of backlog to deal with when they reopen though...

Certainly not knocking your decision making process Brock, it's alot of cash so ya gotta be sure you get what you want. I wish I had your patience as sometimes i'll regret a purchase made in haste. Also see you're now looking for some led lights for the new rack, you shoulda researched both at the same time that would have freed up January for something else :lmao:

Just got an email from Bajaracks that said my rack shipped the 27th (ordered it 12/28 
), but shows the order date as 1/3/12. Hopefully I get it in a couple days so I can put it on during my vacation! :bravo:

A couple things you might want to do while you're waiting for delivery...
Get someone lined up to help you lift the rack onto your truck when you install it. It's kind of heavy and you can't do it alone unless you don't mind bashing the rack and your truck.
Go out and get some flat black spray paint or black oxide bolts, nuts, and washers. I'm looking into replacing all of mine with black ones so they don't stand out quite as much. Once they're on I'm also going to Loctite them all because I drive on gravel and washboard a lot on the way to the trails and fishing spots.

Just got the call from UPS, my rack will be here tomorrow between 2-6! Now to start taking off the factory rack so I can get it on quicker :zoom:

Wrestled my generator up there tonight. ****in crazy, way too much from one guy to do. I love this rack!

Thanks man! I silicone'd around all the tubes, but not inside. It did not say in the instructions to silicone into the bolt holes so I left them be. I may back the bolts out and put some loctite on them later, I will check the torque on them later and see if they have loosened up. Interestingly, the instructions are only "do not overtighten", that is kind of relative to what you think is overtightening. They really should put a tq amount.

Have you noticed any leaks inside? I had teflon tape out too, but my neighbors came home and I monopolized on a few free hands so I didn't take any extra time. One of them was a kid, he tripped and damn near dented my roof with the front stabilizers. Can't complain about unpaid help though :shrug:

No leaks yet, but we haven't gotten a whole lot of precipitation since November. My truck has seen more water from the carwash than anything in the last couple months, but I figure better safe than sorry.
The good thing is that you can just take the bolts out one at a time, put the teflon on, then put it back in without needing any help getting the rack off or back on again. I'm also going to buy some brush on black touch up paint for the nuts and bolts so they don't stand out quite so much. For the "do not over tighten" I figured that just meant good and tight without rounding off the bolt heads. Gonna throw some Loctite on them all for some peace of mind as well.

Hey man, how close does the front of your rack come to the roof? Mine is damn near touching my roof, to the point that a bit of flex or a heavy load would make it touch. I am thinking maybe I should back off all my bolts and see if I can wrestle it a bit forward?
