rough ride after switch to LT tires

I recently installed LBJ's, inner outer TRE's, steering gear bushings,sway bar bushings etc, due to loose front end,with bald tires,(P type) and it rode like new with new parts so off to tire store,got some 265 75 16 LT 6ply tires and alignment,was on top of the world until I hit the highway,every seam in the road traveled thru steering and shook the old girl,got home and 40 psi in tires so went to 32 psi,drove again still violent so went 25 psi and little better,do LT tires always punish the driver this much? all pickups ive had I ran LT's on and never noticed it like this!Maybe I want my P tires back!!!!

What brand and model of tires did you buy?

I've only run D and E load tires.

your lt tires will be stiff at first, but they will soften as they get "broken in" and you get used to it. no doubt about it they are not a P tire, but then again we are driving a truck(its on a frame, a real true frame). if you want comfort and plushness then you probably should not be driving a 15+ yo suv.

Ya it will definitely be harsh on the roads around here. E will be a little worse than a D rated. I had a set of Es and they sucker, but the Ds I got are a lot better at 32 psi.

The salt destroys our roads down here, and it can be like a washboard road at times. I like to say its smooth on smooth roads, rough on rough.

I wasnt complaining about a rough riding 4runner,I was complaining about a ROUGHER riding one! I was just suprised at P= cushy-ish compared to LT=chiropractor appointment,will give em a go anyway ,they ara wild country "c" tires.

A 6 ply tire shouldn't be that much rougher. Mine has D rated BFG's on it and it's rough but not too rough considering the thing is a truck to begin with. These tires were on there when I bought it. We never tow anything with this vehicle, nor does it get off-roaded and will be going to more of a passenger/highway tire when it's time and I expect the ride to be a little better. This T4R may see a ride on the sand now and then but I bought it for reliability and to have 4x4 in the snow as my daughter drives it at college in the mountains. I haven't started looking yet, but I imagine I can find something with decent snow friendly tread on it without having to get a heavy duty tire.

I have seen soybean stubble go right thru P tires so LT are my friend on the farm,but I wont be pulling grain carts with it,probalby could though:clap2:
