"Rumble Strip" Transmission issue

So you actually had a Toyota dealer add the shudder fix to your trans? That's great to hear if that's the case!

Hey guys. I have read through this whole thread. Still a little confused on what the best approach is. My car is a 2003 with 111,000 miles. I just got it last week. It has the same issue As a most of yall. Normally between 15-25 mph.
I took it in for an overall inspection. They looked it over. I told them about the Shudderfixxx and they told me that wasn't a good idea. They checked the transmission fluid and said it was full and clean. So what route should I take? Filter?

I'm finding the same issues on my 07 4Runner v6. It has 101K on it. I just drained 12 quarts by the tranny cooler line and replaced it with Valvoline MaxLife ATF. I added a Magnefine inline filter. I still have a shutter between 4th and 5th gear. Very noticeable around 45mph and when on the highway with the a/c on and going up a hill as the tranny tries to shift between 4th and 5th.
I have a bottle of Lubegard Platinum on my desk. I am going to drain out 15 ounces from the tranny and replace it today with LubeGard.

Interesting read. My issue seems to be harsher and it came on more suddenly.
From 50 mph onward there's a pretty solid vibration. It's similar to a warped rotor feel, but I don't feel it in the wheel at all. My shifts are all good and crisp but I'm noticing some hesitation going up hills. It's not what I'd call a transmission slip but more of a hiccup.
I'm going to grease everything I can find and then have my mechanic service the trans. I haven't had the rig very long and was planning on having him do it anyway.
What bothers me is my issue isn't isolated to 45-50 mph. It does seem to increase in intensity with speed, but it's also synonymous with the slight transmission hiccups going up hill...

As I said in my previous post, I had the dealership drain what they could and service to proper level adding the shudder fix. I did NOT have the filter replaced. Mine is an 05 4runner, V6, 160,000 miles at the time. What killed me is the mechanic said the transmission was a quart low. It has never leaked and it had never been serviced. WTH? I could have paid the $1800 and had the torque converter replaced but I decided to try this first. I'm glad I did. 20,000 miles later, so far so good. We'll see if it returns and if it does I'll try the same thing but so far so good.

So I probably should have joined this forum a bit sooner. I have a 2005 V8 SR5 with 138K on it. Service Overhaul/Belts/draining completed at 100K. Just got new tires last year and noticed the Shudder at 1.5RPM and about 45-50mph...shudder instantly goes away after letting go of gas. So with everything I've read here, this could go anywhere from $300 Fluid Drain and Refill to a Torque converter $950, to $1400 Tranny issue. I'm a technical "Do-it-yourself-er" to an extent nothing ever with the transmission...mostly advanced electrical things within a car, but nothing really (besides OIL) engine related.
I'm looking for some advice on the best way to handle this..I've been to my local Mechanic (who can't reproduce it really, but have had everything under the sun recommended) So glad I found this here....
I'm located about 40 miles northeast of Philadelphia....thanks in advance.
I really don't want to trade my 4Runner in...but my wife said she's tired of me getting nickel and dimed over this....

If you can change your oil, you can drain and fill the transmission, or flush it through the cooler hose. Maybe try that first and see if it fixes it. The fluid is not too expensive, and it's only a bit more complicated than an oil change.
It's stupid that an oil change is $24.99, but a transmission fluid drain and fill is $300 for about the same work.

Thanks, if its as easy as a Oil change, I've done that countless of times. Are there any Step by Step instructions posted anywhere? Also where best to buy the fluid? This is obviously something I don't want to screw up. Appreciate the reply!

I had a drain and fill at the Toyota Dealership and they added the Shudder Fix. It took two days but solved the problem. A mechanic buddy told me about it. Couldn't believe it. Don't dare do a flush. A guy I know just had a flush done on his perfect running Tahoe then came the shudder. He had to replace the torque converter. It's available at most auto parts stores. I paid $6.00 here in VA. It's been well over a year for me. So far so good. If it reoccurs, I'll do another drain and fill and add the Shudder Fix.
Update. So far so good.

My Local Garage must've been reading the same forum...they went in and put the Shudder Fix in and recommended a drain/fill or flush in a couple weeks if that works with another shudder fix application.....so fingers crossed this little magic tube works.....

My 2003 Limited just started exhibiting this behaviour often. It used to happen every once in a while, but a slight press on the gas "resolved" it. Now, it happens frequently. Drives me nuts! I guess I'll have ALL fluids swapped out. I'll add that to my to-do list right next to ripping out the factory sub and figuring out what's wrong with the amp.

How many miles? Any previous transmission service?

Believe it or not, mine turned out to be the CV axles. I replaced them and zero vibration now!

Why did it need to be rebuilt? Did you regularly change the fluid?

After I bought it, one of the computers started throwing errors and was jacking up the transmission. To play it safe, due to the jacked up gear switching, they rebuilt the tranny.
