Running Boards cost to order and Bull Guards ?s

called in today to two dealerships and asked about the running boards and if they were available yet. first dealership i called basically shafted me and said they were too busy to find it. second dealership i called was nice enough to take the time and look through their system for it.

the guy looked it up in the computer system under the accessories section and didn't find anything. then i asked, since they came with the trail edition as a stock piece, could it be possible that it was listed somewhere else? maybe replacement parts?

so the guy looked it up and low and behold, he found the running boards for the trail edition.

now there is some good news and bad news to this.


good news is that i found the running boards and was able to not only get the price but also the individual part numbers for each side.

bad news is that the running boards are extremely pricey. more pricey than most are willing to pay i'm sure.


so here goes

Trail Edition Running Boards:

Right Side: Part # 5177135200
Left Side: Part # 5177235170

The Price: $430 Canadian per running board (for a grand total of $860).


Now these are the prices and part numbers that i was quoted. Sorry to be the bringer of good and bad news fellas :)

Just received the running boards today from the dealer and installed them myself. Took me about 90 minutes on the first side, and only 30 minutes on the 2nd side because after you put the first one on, the 2nd one goes much quicker. Somebody mentioned it before, the installation instructions/pictures are not the best. The best thing is if you pick the running boards up from the dealer, take a look at a 4runner with them installed. All in all, it was pretty simple. Even if you're not mechanically inclined, like myself, it was good to get to know the underside of my 4runner. 10 years of having company cars, I never did look under any of them.

Now all I need is to get rid of the antenna and swap my 17's for the limited 20's (anybody??)

is there anyway you can take pictures from underneath to see how you mounted the brackets?? Thanx
 
New GX 460

saw one in the walmart parking lot of all places. Looked beefy and mouth drooled.

Couldnt help but wondering. I believe the integrated running board on GX will fit the 4R if the bottom side strip is removed from 4R. THey are the same body and frame and should have all same holes etc. That would look sweet!

Yea..the price is waaaaaaaayy out there...hopefully it'll come down. I'm still locked on the look though, I don't see me changing my mind on it. That's the beauty of being OCD....lol

my guess is that they are only that price because they were recently released. MSRP is usually subject to change when they start being sold by a third party so hang in there pat!

i'm sure the prices will drop. but atleast now you've got a starting point

Is it for a 2010 4Runner?
These will NOT fit a 2010 4Runner. The BIG clue is that on the part reference application guide, they list the 2003-2010 as using the same exact brackets and parts. I know for a fact 4th Gens and 5th Gens are way different.I'm finding alot of aftermarket companies do that.

So you dont think you could tweak the brackets to fit or have to drill a hole or two? I dont know Im just asking and going off of what they advertised. Where would the fitment issues be? Im pretty handy in fabbing.

that may work but theyre may not be enough support in the design to support drilling and tapping new holes to bolt the brackets to the running board.
I wouldnt think anything listed as 2003-2010 4runner as actually being designed for the 2010, sellers just update all their parts to the new year till they realize theyre is a new model, i but some even do it hoping to sell to the new model without a return or to charge a return fee (esp ebay sellers):peace:

Power Toyota in Irvine claims they can install these very bars on a 2010 4Runner and allegedly have a pic of them on one, as well as the Uni series.

I didn't look into it while I was there, and wouldn't be surprised if it was bogus.

I also installed these boards last, took about 90 minutes. Everything fit perfectly with a good instruction sheet. To bad Toyota didn't have the foresight to offer them at each dealer.
 
Question?

Posted both here n "Owner's thread" forum cuz tryin 2 use Canadian 4runner as an example. But maybe more suited in this forum (as some has directed me).

Anywho...I'm looking at the running boards on the Limited 4runner's from Canada and they appear to have some kind of spots on the top of them and from the side angle look a little thinner. The ones people here in the US are getting from Southeast Toyota do not have spots and appear all chrome and a little thicker. I just always assumed they were the same ones and Southeast somehow got their hands on a few from Canada. Is this the case because on closer inspection they look a little different? I don't know if anyone could verify this...thanks, or I could just be going a little crazy :jump:
