Running Boards cost to order and Bull Guards ?s

For the people that have installed the SE running boards: Did you have to jack the truck up in order to install the boards?
It sits high enough when you remove the factory bolts and ratchet in the brackets. It got a little tight once you place the running board on the brackets and go underneath to ratchet them in. If you're not obese or have a chest like Arnold, you'll be fine

brush guard, bull guards are just the two middle bars
I want one two, just the bull guard, I have looked around the front of the sr5 and dont see anywhere obvious to mount a bolt on one, so I guess some cutting is needed, I will look more into it when it warms up.

Running boards came in today. I went out and bought a socket set and I think I am good to go. I am not handy by any means and am a little nervous about putting these bad boys on. Can someone ensure me again that they are easy to put on :driving:

So is it safe to say that, to do this mod (add SE tube steps), you have to remove the rocker panels?
I'm not a big fan of them, anyway (and the dreaded chrome strip which they hold).
Would this imply that any aftermarket tube step that would fit a 4th gen 4Runner would also fit an SR5, using the rocker panel brackets?

Would these fit on a stock SR5? I know the trail has different 'mouldings' on the sides, would I have to remove mine or do you think they will create 2 different versions? Most of my offroading is sand based, however these things look like they would be able to double as step assists in/out and possibly provide protection from door dings in parking lots.

Reading the eariler thread, (Late December/Early Jan), it would seem the T4R did not come with Running boards. Obviously, no mention of it on the Web site or any written material I read prior to my purchace. Mine did. It was installed by Southeast Toyota prior to the dealer taking delivery! Picked it up last week (Jan 29th), with the Running boards already on it. Guess they started reading this Forum!

Not really (with any noticeable effect). So far, running boards have been an available option in the SE USA only. In other areas of the country, running boards are not (yet) an option. Toyota USA won't even acknowledge that they are available in the e-mail I received fro them. However, it hasn't taken any time for the SE dealers to discover this and take advantage of e-bay.

Yes you would have to remove the rocker panels. Easy to take off the SR5/Limited rocker panels ,however the TE parts to replace them becomes really involved and expensive to make them tie in right..You need ALL the lower parts from a TE including the black underdoor mouldings,wheel flares and mudflaps.I'll shoot you some pics of mine when they come in as I have them on order
See above answer about changing the rocker panels of the SR5/Limited to the TE moulding.Alot of work and money.
The first sliders from Shrockworks are made to fit the TE's as that is what he had to work with to design and fit them. He needs to design some for the SR5's and Limited WITH the rocker panels on.It is beyond most peoples ability and price range to convert over to the Trail Edition and probably won't happen much at all.I'm going to call him and explain that this afternoon.He was thinking the same thing, just remove the rocker panels and everything would be good.He needs a SR5/Limited in the Houston area to work with.

I would think another option is to create some sturdy spacers that, along with some longer bolts, could be used to drop the 4th gen tubular boards below the level of the SR5/Limited rocker panels. This is the direction that I'm leaning toward right now. It would really be nice if the aftermarket (or Toyota for that matter) can develop some steps that parallel the lower rocker panels of the SR5 and Limited models but on an even plain (so the steps don't sit so low).
