Running Boards for '15 SR5

Hi All,
I just bought a 2015 4Runner SR5 Premium a little over a month ago and have wanted to add some running boards 'cuz I'm a shortie. I did end up getting these for Christmas and they fit... but... well... just look at the picture. They look a little ridiculous.

I've done a little research on this forum, and while I've seen the topic discussed, I don't know enough about cars to know what is being said. From what I gather, it seems the '14-'15 4R's don't have skirting like the previous ones, and the skirting may have covered up the brackets on these boards?!

Can someone please explain to me in layman's terms what I should look for after I return these? Or, what I should ask for as an exchange?

Like I said, I don't really know much about these things so the simpler the terminology, the better. I appreciate any help or advice you guys could give me.

Running Boards

From my research (i have a 14 SR5 Premium) I found that the boards from the 10-13 trail will fit and give it that nice high and tight appearance. i have seen some other 14's around town that im guessing installed boards for a 10-13sr5 and they have a large space from the bottom of the door to the top of the step.

Ive seen some 14/15's with the toyota side steps off the 10-13 SR5/LE and they looked better than what you have for what its worth.
 
14-15 sr5 uses the 10-15 trail running boards, i'd be sending them back for exchange. you got the 10-13 sr5 steps that needed the extra room for the side skirt.

depending on where they came from and what kind of steps they are, you may just be able to get them to send you the correct brackets to raise them up.
 
Well, I'm pretty sure any and everything looks better than what I have right now, LOL. I'm taking them off tomorrow and returning them. I just want advice regarding what to look for when I order new ones so I don't make the same mistake.

So, it seems like I should look for boards for the 2010-13 Trail? I actually really like the look of the OEM rigid boards (the black ones with squares or whatever on them), but I haven't had any luck finding those in my area.

THANK YOU! I will ask for the shorter brackets before I return... that would be the simplest solution.

Seems like there were a couple for sale in the for sale thread stacked at the top of page 1 within the last month or so.

Thanks everyone! I requested an exchange for the shorter brackets and should know by Monday. If that doesn't work out, I'll look into the black rigid boards that a couple people on here have for sale.
