Rust prevention - Is fluid film enough?

I just bought a 2018 TRD Off-road premium and love the truck, but I realize that Toyota and rust have a toxic relationship. What is the best way for me to prevent it from occurring on my shiny new frame.

Its not so much an issue right now in NC but I will be relocating up to Maryland pretty soon and it will be necessary with the salt brine they put on the roads.

So far my best guess is to go with a thorough coating of fluid film and maybe a two to three month power wash and re-coat cycle. I assume there is not a permanent solution, or is there?

I dont think there really is a permanent solution to guarantee a rust proof frame but fluid film and regular cleaning should be plenty. I think one application of fluid film (from a spray gun) should last you the entire season. Powerwash in the spring and then re-apply in the fall before snow.

I had a good experience with Fluid Film when I coated my previous truck ('16 TRDOR Tacoma).

I'm in Upstate NY where there's a lot of salt, snow and road spray during the winter months. The Fluid Film stayed applied to all areas I sprayed, except in the wheel well areas - where the spray from the water coming off the tires washed most of the coating off of the suspension components.

I applied Fluid Film to that truck with about 6-8 aerosol cans of the coating. The film goes on thick (andIi suggest coating everything generously) and does attract dirt and grime which will stick to the coating - making your frame look very dirty; however underneath the grime and coating - a nicely protected frame will remain.

This year I went with Krown coating, which is professionally applied and I was not impressed at all. There's practically no coating left. I will not being going this route again, and wouldn't suggest it to anyone.
