rx afs projector retro

hey guys and girls, i just finished my lexus rx afs projector retro on my truck, took me about 8 hours, started 330am, and now finished like half hour a ago. reason for me starting at that time is i get out work at 3am. pics will come, there was alot of grinding, dont know how the output will look since its day time and u cant really tell yet. pass side is easier to retro since the tabs on the projector kinda blend in, on the driver side, theres some custom work need to be done since the tabs are on the oppisite side of the original bracket of stock housing. have to make a plate for the lower left corner of the projector to mount, i did not drill any extra holes in the projectors, but i used the holes that mounted the reflector bowl of the projector in place.

Nice! I have a set of RX AFS in 2006 Sport headlights on my 2003. Did you put on the TSX clear lenses too? The lenses give them a pretty thick blue band at the top of the cutoff and a lot of flicker. The only thing that bugs me is that the TSX lenses exaggerate the curved cutoff shield when you're right against a wall with the cutoffs flaring up in both directions--it's not noticeable when driving around though.

Can't wait to see the pictures.

well, driver side needs to rotated clockwise, pass side is dead on. these are the rx afs projectors from retrofit source, also using the tsx r lens.

these projectors are way better than the quick retro system with the morimoto d2s projectors, i do miss having quad high beams.

Top Notch work PHO!!

You will love the RX projectors, especially with the TSX lens. This is the setup I have on my Civic!

Will you retain the hi beam as Halogens? I do, but I would like to put in a stronger bulb (something that doesn't require a relay).

Regards!

I did what cesar from lightwerks told me wat to do on the projectors. He told me to cover up the squirrel finders with aluminum tape. Cookieroe i have piaa extreme white bulbs in high beams. This setup is osram 66240 bulbs (oem) and morimoto 5five ballast. Gona fix the driver side rotation later and take some pics of the mounting on that side. Im telling cookieroe u need to try a 50w ballast with these projectors, its sex.

I may give the 50watters a try after my 35w ballast blow up. PHO: you mentioned that there was a comparo done on 35 vs. 50 ballast, I'll try to find that and post here. I'm sure there are people who are wondering about HID bulb longevity. Apparently it isn't too bad. Caesar from lightwerkz is the man! Retros look awesome!!

i retro these myself so nothing from cesar except some helpful advice lol, cesar did not do the retro cookie.

I understand. I meant to imply that he is cool/very professional. I was having trouble installing my ballasts and wire harness yesterday (Sunday) so I sent him an email. Wasn't expecting an answer for at least until Monday or Tuesday. He emailed me 15 minutes later.

These retro is sex. So hows ur setup doing cookie, are u goin to repaid the tl high beam or do another retro? Maybe ur better off with fxr but if money is no object, do a quad ls460 setup, that is so much wide spread of light.

Just got my TLs working tonight after 3 months!! Too bad I got the 35w, but they are DENSOS so I expect them to last. Also got Morimoto wire harness for them. Your RXs look awesome! I should video tape my TLs and post here! (for a comparo). I honestly like the RX light spread better than the TLs. Give me a few days on that video...................

Ok, here are my TL retros on my 4Runner. I think I have to adjust them vertically (left/right). Sorry for the bad video (3GS iPhone):

if u need to readjust the lights both up and down and left and right, go up to a flat place with a wall, then make sure the truck is straight, and then mark for the width distance between the lights, shoul be like 4ft apart or something like that, then when u mark the hieght of the light, it has to be to the middle of the projectors, for me it was like about 39 inches, and then u mark that on the wall, then use some tape, duct tape long wnough to do refrence mark for height and then the width. do a flat tape line for height, then a vertical for width. on the heigh part make sure u lower it at 2 inches, so the height line should be 37. now the aiming starts, back up at 25 feet, aim the lower step of cutoff at 37 inches, if u use duct tape, try to use the bottom line as the reference. like the bottom part should be at 37. and then do the horizontal aim, i think lower step of cutoff where it starts to slope up to top step. i use right edge of tape if u have it on the edge of the marks. make sure u do the horizontal first, then the vertical on one side, do driver side first, then on pass. back up further at 50+ feet and make sure the vertical is even, if not, adjust the pass side till it match the driver. drive and adjust if needed.
