Safari snorkel on a 5th gen?

Anyone else still waiting? I'm at 6 weeks on mine and have called ARB requesting a status update for the upcoming batch. From what I was told they should arrive sometime on or about the 13th of June. Maybe my skids will be on the same boat... Seems like ARB products are difficult to source these days.

I just finally got mine today.. I can't remember when I pre-ordered.. but it was very early on....

They got a ft of snow the day before, most of it melted away though, picture was taken just above inception run at fortress ski hill.

Got it done without too much trouble. The clips are easy to do if you remove the airbox and pinch them from the top.

You might still want to have a few on hand. Then, if you spend longer than a minute on it, cut it out and drive on.

Anyone feel like the truck picked up a tiny bit of power? Last few days I feel like its just a little more ready to move than usual, perhaps its placebo. I do remember ARB saying they designed it to give some gains but I wasn't expecting anything at all. :becky:

Also cut the big hole first, it'll help you get to 2-3 of them from the top as well.

I feel like it gained a little something.. but it also added some more drag to the brick.

Ah good I'm not totally crazy. Now I'm curious about the URD maf tuner since we have all effectively installed a CAI, perhaps the MAF settings could/should?? be tweaked for optimum performance. I called Gadget at URD but he didnt tell me anything their website didnt other than Tacoma guys love this mod but not so much the t4r people, I guess. There is almost nothing on here about it.

At most it adds 1-2 hp, which I doubt anyone can actually feel. And that's based on a STOCK 4runner with absolutely no aftermarket body/bumper/weight mods.

Yeah no way to tell what the actual gains are, if any but I do feel a tiny tiny improvement, as I mentioned above.

Also per ARMAX/Safari:

"Our brand new performance orientated Safari Snorkel product line.
These snorkels are all new designs, tested on a custom built flow bench, to flow 25% to 70% more air than the stock air cleaner housing flows from the vehicle manufacturer, whilst still providing a watertight raised air intake.

-certainly this is going to be much more true for a FI diesel as they imply in the paragraph above but the snorkel, according to Safari, should be adding airflow, which makes me wonder if URD could tune it with the Maf Cali to actually see a real (though minor with all air intakes, I'm sure) improvement. If you take the low side of their numbers, we should be seeing 25% more airflow which I think could be perceptible. Your rig, as weighed down as it is, not as much as me on puny 295s. Well...looks like you got at least 25% gain in condescension power over that 1.5 years...impressive! :lol: ...only kidding Mr. Dart, don't take it seriously.

I'm just laying out what I am experiencing, which could be a tiny gain, not ridiculous to think if the snorkel is ramming in ~25% more air. Looking at the OEM inlet, I believe its better than stock. Having experience in performance cars in the past, my mind always wonders if there is a way to better harness that flow, MAF tuner would possibly do that since its tuned for that factory inlet in the fender. Im just putting it out there for the sake of discussion. I dont see why it needs to be immediately shot down based on your butt dyno from a rig that is as far from stock as it gets.
