Safety flag requirement in Moab area?

I'm trying to figure out if I should pack (i.e. strap to the roof rack) the safety flag (orange flag on a long pole) with me to the Expo and Moab beyond?
[MENTION=66300]Intruder[/MENTION] .... Do you run a flag out there? Is there a requirement from the local government/land owners?

Anyone having been to the Overland Expo... (@Philsey) do they require a flag for the driving classes there?

Haven't been to Moab so I couldn't tell you, but I've never seen anyone running a flag in any pictures or videos. [MENTION=77684]WarnerD9[/MENTION] or [MENTION=78273]Jeremy556[/MENTION] could tell you for sure. Not sure about Overland Expo.

Cruise Moab doesn't even show people running flags and not listed as required for running the trails. I would say, leave the flag at home! That is my plan. No flag. Warm up those trails for me [MENTION=55815]Okki[/MENTION]!

Went to Moab last year and did not see any flags.

Flags are more for the dunes where people drive at a fast rate of speed. Moab you are on rocks where speed is typically your enemy so there is no need for flags.

No need for flags at the driving classes at the overland expo either. Its just a flat piece of land at Morman Lake where there are some obstacles.

Good question but there's a high probability people may make fun or ask you where the sand dunes are if you sport one!

There are plenty of jack ass razor drivers down there such that I felt pretty uncomfortable on my last trip. A flag would be a good idea IMO.

We've got some of those around here too that go bombing down the truck trails even though they have their own trails we aren't allowed on. The thing is I don't feel a flag would help given the intoxication level of many of them.

Just got home from Moab this afternoon and don't recall seeing a single flag on the trails we ran. Doesn't mean there weren't any, just that I don't recall seeing any. We did see lots of Jeep groups, from 5-6 to more than 15 Jeeps running a trail together. Gets crowded and VERY dusty while waiting for them to go by.

Got a large gadsden on my house. Still looking for a subdued gadsden decal for the back of the truck. Already have a subdued US flag to blend in with the black paint.
