Even though you have the right tires, and the Sonoran 1.2 lift.. you can still get stuck from being stupid..

High Centered.. and ironically the only picture I have of my own truck on the trail this past weekend. the Rig did great, but both front and rear bumpers gotta go!! I hit both, and had to pull them back out. It pushes them into the wheel wells, and rubs horribly..

Did you cut the legs on your sliders or is that the length they came? I know you can set your own angle, but I like how far yours stick out - not too much that they hang up on rocks and not so far in they don't protect enough.

I just ordered the same ones a few days ago from 4xinnov. (my TG sliders don't protect my rear doors enough and I got scars to prove it now!). They're getting cut off and I'm putting the 66" DOMs on like you.

Yes, E rated.. ride harsh: Um, not so much.. any at/offroad tire is going to ride rougher/make more noise. I love them honestly.. when I 20 psi on the trail, it was like I had a Cadillac on the dirt roads. You are welcome to drive my Caddy and see for yourself if we meet sometime.

Awesome! I am glad to hear I am influencing the mighty Brian! Yeah, we got it a little close on the driver's side in regards to that flare out mounted to the back door.. but it doesn't rub. It's just close. So far, they have worked great, but I have yet to smack them into a rock.. A lot of our crowd has, and they have held up excellent. Can't beat them for the price!

PS- I am about to pull the trigger on a CBI bumper.. just the bottom half, I am not 100% sold on the Swing out for the type of wheeling I do, seems like it would catch on things.

Haha, yeah the 4xinnovs rock! I talked to Steve at CBI today, I should be getting my bumper in the next few days, he's still finishing it off. I'll let you know how it is, but I've wheeled some pretty steep trails with guys who have swing-aways on 3rd gens and I've never seen them hit. CBI puts the tire mount at a good angle so it doesn't hit the ground easily. Chaplain's bumper has a bunch of extra stuff on it like a dual can holder, a floor jack holder, etc.. so it looks like a lot. I just got a single gas can and a hi-lift holder.

Also, the shipping is the same for the bumper and the swing away as it is for just the bumper so if you plan on getting it later, you'll have to pay another $150 and also remove the bumper and install the spindle.

I am getting it with the Spindle, just not the entire Swing-Away. Where I am at, is I am trying these "earth" hills, and sometimes I can't make it and the Ass end slides to one side digging the bumper into the ground or on a root (when I back up to try again). The Stock one bent like a soda can... I will be putting a lot of weight and stress on the bumper, and had doubts with the swingout. So.. I am gonna try it as a regular bumper first.. then maybe add a swing out later if it is s****y enough. Don't get me wrong, I like the swing out look but... Having the tire under seems like it would lower my COG, and I do some wicked off camber stuff, so any help is welcome.

It is only a matter of time before I Flop it.. anyone have 3rd Gen flop pics? I have seen the FJ's flop plenty, no big deal there. Curious how the 3rd Gen handles it.. this FJ below had very little damage.

Yeah I'm use to the A/T's on my Jeep (shhhh) but I've heard the sidewall on the E rated tires are too stiff and makes the ride harsh on road (since I DD my runner). I think I'm gonna put some used 285's on first then save up for the Maxxis 255's since they offer them in an 8 ply flavor. I don't think I'm gonna make it to the Padre meet but hopefully I'll get to see the caddy in action soon.

I needed to get the tire out from underneath there because on certain trails and rock gardens (like John Bull), I didn't want my spare to get smashed and pop with all the sharp rocks.

Well, I was going to do the 285/75/16 but.. was told the 255/85/16 on the stock 7" rim would clear the best through full travel of the suspension, so that is what I did. 285 on an 8" rim rubs, and maybe a little on the stock 7" wheel... just what I hear. Acutally, Brian can probably answer that better than I. 255 is not "too stiff", and works excellent overall for my needs.

Ew, didn't think about that.. hmm.. well, I am going to have to weld in the spare mount from Sonoran, so I am guessing it has a little more "up" clearance plus my tires are not that wide.. But, scraping it on a rock and poping your spare would SUCKKK!

Bummer... just bought a new battery and it is already a little swollen. It's an AGM from Oreilly's.. checked the voltage, 13v! Car running, the Alternator is putting out 13.8V... shouldn't it drop when the battery is Full!??

Edit - research says 13.5-14.5v is normal output from a stock alternator. Guess it's normal, must be another reason the Battery is swelling. It's Farking HOT lately, maybe that is it..


Also notice some Radiator repairs that were done sometime back are starting to leak.. drip, drip, drip... not too bad yet but I guess I better shop for a new radiator. Gr.

Stayed at the house this past weekend..

Noticed a leak on the passenger rear, assumed it was the Axle seal.. so, I replaced it. Then I realized it was the Wheel cylinder.. augh :facepalm:

got that changed, went ahead and replaced the Rear brake line with the Steel one that has been sitting in my toolbox for a while. Bleeding my brakes turned into "Flushing" my brake system..:naughty: Got that wrapped up, so I started on my Rock lights..

I am gonna write it up with pics, but failed to take photo's this past weekend. Will work on some photo's tonight. Stay Tuned.

JK, I tried to get Andrew to sell me his 255's last night (said he'd think about it...score!)

Lets see these rock lights, I was gonna do something similar but I'm keepin my mouth shut so you don't do it first!
