Hey all Blue will not be able to make this trip. So I know he was going to meet some of the San Diego area guys and lead them up. So I am happy to step in and help this out just let me know who all is out there and we can set this up. I'm in the corona area so we can set a place to meet.

I do believe so. He sent me a message to ask me to lead from this side since we originally talked about doing this run. Said he heading east for good.
San Diego Folks will meet here: (N. Main Divide Rd. and Ortega Highway). This group will head up to Santiago Peak from the south. Meet at 4:00pm!
Orange County folks will meet at the Chevron Station on the corner of Jamboree and Chapman in Orange. This group will head up to Santiago Peak from the north via Maple Springs Road. Meet at 3:00pm, depart at 3:30pm!

Nice, bag one for me. I might be able to catch the end of Bow season but that will be it most likely. I'm big on Turkey! I love to hunt them. You have to be on your game to hunt those little guys. That and the dinner after makes it all worth it.

Did a 4 hour skull drag last year to get my bird. At least they have not tried to take our bows here in Kalifornia.

Wow, how is there so much confusion about the plan?
Orange County Side:
Step 1: Drive your 4Runner to the Chevron at Chapman and Jamboree
Step 2: Fill your gas tank up with gasoline(octane of your liking)
Step 3: Fill up your ice chest with sodas/drinks/food/ice(optional)
Step 4: Shortly after 3:30pm PST, follow me(ElGringoLoco) to the trailhead
Step 5: We drive to Santiago Peak, stopping often for photos.
Step 6: Meet the guys coming from the South and talk 4Runners/nature.
Step 7: The group disassembles and go their separate ways.
Step 8: Have a frosty beverage at Cook's Corner(optional)
A few things to remember: CNF does require you to have an adventure pass when parked for more than a few minutes. You can be ticketed for not having one. They can be purchased at any location listed here:
Region 5 - Recreation Passes & Permits
It's going to get pretty cold once the sun goes down, be sure to pack colder weather gear. If you have any more questions, don't clog up the thread further- PM me and if it's dire; I'll post it up.

^^ this is a rule but I've been running the roads for 20+ years and never had anyone even ask. They aren't expensive and good for a year if you pick one up. Also good for all state forest roads i.e....big bear arrowhead and such.

I found one in my glovebox from last year, not filled out. Any idea if they expire, or do they have different colors by year?

It will still work, just scratch off the month and the date. I see rangers in SB Mountains, but I never see them up Main Divide Road.
