It was more a commentary on ME being too damn dumb to understand what you said.
Today I started the process of updating my build thread. It’s a very tedious process:
Edit the post
Find the picture name
Find the same picture on Flickr
Insert new picture Flickr code
Edit formatting.
:frusty:
The process is going to be a pain in the ass regardless if there is an API or tool or program that can help. There is no way of updating an entire thread without extensive coding and that requires and API connection. Accessing API to this site is probably not an option so I would chalk that idea.
I used to migrate website content for companies so if I can offer any advice on how to make this process go faster, this would my process of updating.
First things first, go to Photobucket and download the entire album(s). The option is found below the share links on the right. Once downloaded, you'll need to unzip the file. Once done, all of your images you uploaded will be there with the original name followed by numbers/letters. (this is probably Photobuckets way of making sure each image on their server is unique to avoid conflicts.) You can remove the numbers/letters or leave them. If you plan on using flickr, i wouldn't bother renaming them since original name is not used in the share links like Photobucket. Upload all of the images to the new hosting service.
Now to editing the post.
Have 2 separate browsers opened or multiple window/tabs opened. Put the browser windows side by side. One will be for you to leave up to view the post/images and the other will be for editing the post. On the browser used for viewing, open up a new tab log into your flickr account or whatever you are using in place of Photobucket.
On the edit browser, edit the post you want to update. On the view browser, go to the same post and if you right click on the photobucket image and "Open Image in New Tab". That should open up your image in a new tab and show you what the image is. Now switch to the flickr tab, find the image and grab the code and update the post, save, rinse and repeat.
Again, this will be a pain in the ass regardless for all of those who use photobucket but updating post by post is probably the best option.
If you are using a desktop with chrome browser here is a fix. Add this extension
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/photobucket-embed-fix/naolkcpnnlofnnghnmfegnfnflicjjgj
I installed on my mac and it's working great, but I suspect it won't last for long.
This is a really good find! As long as Photobucket doesn't find out, it may be around for a while! If it gets removed, it'll be a matter of time before someone else creates something else similar to this extension and people will keep doing it until Photobucket can find a way to prevent it from happening.
