Saw a 5th Gen on the road (i like my 4th gen better)

just saw a brand new white one on the i80 coming from richmond side, heading towards the split to frisko and oakland, merged to the 880 part and not 580, i dont really like it, but my 4thgen is better, also i passed it, it had like a storage bin on top of the roof rack, i wouldnt trade my truck in for it.

I'd like to know why Toyota used an aerial type antenna mast now...are they too cheap to put it in the window glass?

The only thing I don't like that much is the backside!...it is missing something..the shape of the taillights are weird looking and 2 small I think for that big A$$$....lol.... Other than that..I like everything specially the TE model..that one is sweet as hell.

A couple of days ago in Cambria, I saw one too for the first time. It was a white 5th gen. It looked nice, but I still like the 4th gen better. But I like the controls better on the 5th gen. They seem more well thought out.

I wish the stupid and idiotic design for heating/cooling controls in my 4th gen could be replaced. I hate these controls so much, I've started to look around to see if they can be replaced with rotating knobs.

JAC I agree with you. The rear-end of the new T4R is missing something. The side and front view is OK. I do like the interior a lot except for the pull out shelf. It's convenient but takes away from the cargo area.

The 4th-gen is nothing special in looks, I much prefer the older 4Rs, but I only look at mechanicals when I buy. I'm sure the 5th-gen is an improvement mechanically in a lot of ways, but they definitely cheapened up on some things as well, so I'm not sure yet.

What did they cheapen up on? Just curious... I havn't looked at the 5th gen seriously, and won't until my 4th gen is paid off.

Like the looks. The new one feels much bigger.
Has a little better seating position up front, comfort wise.
Doors felt lighter and cheaper, but overall the interior felt pretty solid.
Like the leather on the new one.
Dont like the fact that all time 4WD is not available on all models.

Got an 07 V8 limited instead

I like the 5th Gen. I saw the limited and SR5 from two different dealers and I like them both. It feels bigger and more boxy which I like. It's looks more like a truck. But my 4th gen is almost paid-off and looking forward to a few years of no monthly payments so no moving to a 5th gen. If somebody would trade a 5th for my 4th without additional payment, I will!
