Saw this after inspecting underneath

This is a picture of where the front muffler hanger connects to the muffler. I've had the muffler on for about 2 months now. Could this have happened due to installer or by driving/use of the truck. Thoughts?

I am no expert welder, but it seems like who ever welded on the hanger went a little to hot and burned through the exhaust pipe...or at the very least they weakened the surrounding sheet metal with too much heat and caused it to rust out prematurely.

Either case I would definitely bring it back and have them fix it, I don't think that should happen if it was welded on properly.

Yup. That's a poor weld job. Someone overheated the pipe and made it too thin.

I noticed the same problem under my truck after about 11 months after installing magnaflow. Went to the shop where it was installed and they fixed it for free.:nerd:

Thanks for all the replies. I just wanted to make sure before I head back to that shop to make the correction. I will definitely be going there on Monday after work and bringing this up to the shop owner.

Appears to be Inverted Heart Syndrome..... Take it back for sure

looks like some pretty crappy welding all around imo, even where its connected to stock looks like they may have blew through there. make sure you have someone else weld it. :suspicious:

Nothing. I switched it out for a magnaflow muffler. Btw Danny, did you get your truck back?
