When have I ever said that I always air down my tires? If you are referring to the conversation we had in my 285 tire thread, then as usual you have misread.

"I will air down, and I will off-road as I have for the past year without any problems."

Never did I say that I always aired down, but that I will with these tires, and that I will continue to off-road as I have for the past year. Meaning I will not stop my hobby because I didn't want LT tires with 10-ply on my daily driver.

If you were less concerned with calling me out, you probably wouldn't make those mistakes. I think you have been sitting in front of your screen too long, maybe it's time for a break?

Don't get sensitive (again) Josh...no one is calling you out....

You "will" air down...and you "will" off-road as you have before...kinda contradicting yourself there....

Why would you think that your new tires are better for airing down than your old?? Just wondering.

Because I have my air compressor now. Airing up is always productive after airing down.

josh why have you switched your suspension up so much? what were the faults in each system?

I first did the spacers because I didn't offroad yet. That made me want to upgrade once it became a frequent hobby. So I went with Sway-A-Way front coilovers after deciding they would suit my needs better than Icon. The rear has had a few combinations because I ran into some problems that I had never encountered when reading reviews on them, or talking to people about their rigs.

OME lifted my back about 3-3.5 inches. Most people don't get that kind of lift, so whether it was bad luck, a bad batch of springs, I am not sure. But OME wasn't for me. Then I went with Icon, and decided I wanted the ride to be a little softer so I sold the Icon springs for $200 and bought the SAW springs for $220. Icons are only good if you carry plenty of weight in the back like a rear bumper. So I didn't really lose anything since I kept selling things to break even. The setup I have now is perfect.

I have Icons and am very happy with their overall performance. The valving has proven to perform well absorbing fast impacts, like the pot-hole infested roads around here and also does a good job controlling nose dive and recoil on the trail. The rear shocks are a good combo, similar to stock with more height and better damping.

I have not been in a truck with SAW, but I've heard they perform similarly to Icon. The difference reported from SAW owners was a firmer ride which is felt from road impacts. SAW can be ordered in 2" or 2.5" diameters, so you can save a little $ going with the 2". A front rear 2.5" set of SAW's are a little more $ than a comparable set from ICON.

The amount of lift is adjustable. When you start going over 3" you will need to make additional mods, such as new upper control arms to regain proper alignment. 3" of suspension, however does not equate to 3 more inches of ground clearance.

The best thing to do is to find some owners in your area and check out what they have.

so if offroading isnt a serious thing more just a go out and jack around every few weeks with nothing too big more like just drivin and slidin in the dirt then is OME a good choice?

I would say so.

Even cheaper if you went with FJ springs...which would maintain near OEM ride comfort.

coilovers

i like my toytec coilovers (bilstein/eibach combo) up front, (fatbobs garage had a sale) & just went with new bilstein shocks in rear (5100), so its not too bouncey over speed bumps & such. for the street its great, but id go for a bit firmer setup if i offroaded alot. just my 2.

But that depends if he wants 2-3" of lift from OME, or only 1/2-3/4 of an inch with the FJ springs.

I have the ICons with the billet upers and lover everything about it. Able to clear 34in tires on aftermarket wheels.

i definitly want that lift. do you choose the amount of lift with the OME or is it just what you happen to end up with?

You choose the stiffness based on whether you plan to stay relatively stock or if you will be adding a bumper, winch, etc at the same time.

For OME rear coils you select the stiffness but the three different coil choices should all net 1 to 1-1/2" lift.

For front OME coils there are only two choices for stiffness.

A) OME 883/884/885 are all the same stiffness at 590 lb in (2% stiffer than stock 580 lb coils) but have different legnths...375mm/385/395mm. They will all sag the same amount if adding a bumper, winch, etc. but they start at different heights.

B) Then there are the OME 886 front coils which are 660 lb in coils for those who want a stiffer setup.

X2 except for the lift part. With OME you'll get about 3-3.5" in front and about 2.5-3" in back. I realize they claim otherwise, but this is what you will get.

how is the ride of the OME as compared to the x-reas? and in terms of body roll how much difference will there be? and also is any power lost with this lift? i know in some big lifts you lose torque but how about with one that is just 3 inches?

You won't lose power from the lift alone. However, you won't want to keep stock tires with an OME lift (they'll look like little donuts). The upsize in tires will attribute to power loss.

I didn't even notice my Xreas was gone when I had it removed. It might help with the squishy stock suspension, but when you upgrade you won't even know it's gone.
