ScanGauge ATF Temp Location

After reading more about tranny temps, I found that maximum temperature ranges depend entirely on where the temperature is being read.

If the temp is taken from the pan, the max safe temp is around 200.

If it's taken at the "out" line, the max safe temp is actually around 300. So the question is where does the SG take the temp on our 3rd Gen 4R's. The pan or on the way to the cooler?

From these two pics I'd say the temp sensor the SG uses is right next to the send line. (hot line going to the cooler)
