Scarab Offroad Modular Fuse Panel

Curious if anyone has given this a try? Looks nicely done. I would just be mounting a bluesea fuse panel with a breaker on a 2000 5-speed. Nothing crazy or special. Access to the existing fuse panel without removing anything sounds great.

Nguyenworks cuts the metal for Scarab so the quality will be good, but I don't think they have shipped one yet. They are still pre-sale.

I question that working for 01-02's mega MC.
No matter the year center line of Master is the same, 01-02's MC extends 6.25" toward fender from center line of MC
leaving you 3" between fender and MC for mounting Breaker running cables.
MC extends from firewall 10.5", corner of mount right of red cable needs setting back to mount width where breaker is mounted corner of fuse panel in the way also.

Yeah I don't see it fitting. I was just under the hood of my 01 last night, and the MC looks like it will hit. Hopefully they have test fit on an 01/02, because I am interested...

I follow Scarab on IG and I believe they state they are designed to fit all 3rd gen variants and all early tacos "that don't have the vertical cylindrical evap"

But you could ask them to be sure @scarab.offroad

you could look into a Volvo main fuse panel something like this. you can find them in the trunk of Volvos they come straight off the battery and have a cover that comes over them when you find them so they look fairly clean and can hold a lot of fuses and large ones at that. http://i.imgur.com/FiCNfkh.png

if you would like a photo with the cover on i can go and grab one from the junkyard toolbox. came in a lot of Volvos i just get them from the u pull yard.

Nice design and I will probably order one but that cost is pretty high, especially when the MJT one was I think in the $50’s and also utilized stainless steel. I do see however that this has more real estate to mount stuff, support in the back, tabs for relays, and material costs have gone up, so I guess I’m just being a “back in my day” grump. Also I wish it was designed to put the breaker closer to the battery instead of at the furthest point away, given that you want your fuse/breaker to be as close to the source as possible. But again, I’m glad someone’s finally making one of these again! It also led me to their other products like the washer relocation kit, so this company may end up taking even more of my money

Anyone get their hands on one yet? I’m in the market for one as well and this is one of the only options for 96-00 from what I gather. I think you can still get the files from Ripcord for his 01-02 version for a small fee, and then it’s up to you to source the metal and have it cut.

Looks like these are supposed to be shipping this week from Scarab according to one of their replies to a customer from a December post on their IG. I’m thinking of getting the populated panel so I don't have to source things separately and being that I already have a few relays, rolls of wire and crimps laying around. The power cable crimps suck to deal with due to the gauge of wire.

Was going to get a Bussmann 5 relay panel but those are even more difficult to find space for due to the shape. One big difference is I like how they’re completely waterproof as opposed to this panel. Not sure how well these things keep dust and water off them even though the description stated that the panels are designed to keep that from happening. I’d be curious to hear from an actual customer.

Scarab is posting IG Story pics of units that have been received and installed by customers. Some are using their own blocks and breakers. Seem to be a good fit but hopefully someone here reports back. Like I said earlier NguyenWorks cuts the steel and the quality looks good. I have the Scarab washer bottle relocation kit. I'll probably get one down the line when I finally get around to wiring up some lights and accessories.

I got mine in, it was a Christmas present that finally came a few days ago. Mounting was fairly straight forward and now I just need to order the fuse block & breaker (I got the bare one).
